Sometimes, watching a Democrat learn something is wonderful, like seeing the family dog finally sit and stay at your command.
With President Obama back in office and his life-saving “fiscal cliff” bill jammed through Congress, the new year has brought a surprising turn of events for his sycophantic supporters.
“What happened that my Social Security withholding’s in my paycheck just went up?” a poster wrote on the liberal site DemocraticUnderground.com. “My paycheck just went down by an amount that I don’t feel comfortable with. I guarantee this decrease is gonna’ hurt me more than the increase in income taxes will hurt those making over 400 grand. What happened?”
Shocker. Democrats who supported the president’s re-election just had NO idea that his steadfast pledge to raise taxes meant that he was really going to raise taxes. They thought he planned to just hit those filthy “1 percenters,” you know, the ones who earned fortunes through their inventiveness and hard work. They thought the free ride would continue forever.

But I did get the trips to posh hotels ~ off season when we could get them cheaper than the gresiest dirt bag wino motel ~ and frequently spent 100 hour weeks.
The alternative is hourly wage work with caps on overtime, no trips. Jobs at the higher levels are also more entertaining.

that may be so....but after a while didn't they all blend into the same old, same old. ? After 100+ nights on the road wasn't it nice to NOT eat restaurant food, sleep in YOUR bed.
And the no OT pay because you were EXEMPT. Flying on Sundays to get to you Monday appointment, arriving home at 2 AM Saturday to leave at 13:00 on Sunday. Paying people to do the things that you could do for yourself only if your were there....but instead you're on the road.
The 20+ hour flights to Asia to eat food that is simply the most disgusting thing ever, where you've stopped asking what's in it. The offers of pimps whose prostitutes are young enough to be your grand-children.

They can shut up and pay their fair share. As they gazed in awe, amazed by Obamas words of wonder, did they really think that tax increases were only for republicans? They should happily and willingly give as much as they can to their fellow obamabots, especially those who prefer not to work.
After the first few million miles traveling you do develop your own favorite restaurant ~ (certainly chains), hotel/motel ~ just part of the job.
It's also relatively easy to get out of the travel circuit ~ just take a disgustingly intellectual job like researching and writing regulations. lots of people aren't cut out or that sort of work ~ actually almost nobody is cut out for it.
BTW, writing regulations and writing rulings are two different things. Most everybody thinks of rulings as just being another form of regulation, but when you go to court against the gub'mnt your lawyer will cite the law, the regulations and the forms, and if there's a ruling in the mix he'll cut it to shreds with the government's own witnesses.
Not to say rulings aren't important, but sometimes they ain't no thang!

You described my road life to a T. I used to stay in the same hotel chain so the rooms would all look alike (like the familiarity of home). Taking "variation" out of the experience and making predicatbility was the only way I kept a sense of sanity especially on a two+ weeker. Sadly, home became the variable I could not manage (what?! the hot water heater went out?? Call the hotel manager!)
