After accusing Breitbart News of "terrible reporting" on the intrigue surrounding John Boehner's re-election as Speaker of the House, Politico ran a detailed article repeating most of the same facts found in our reporting.
When editors proofed Jake Sherman and John Bresnahan's article titled "Conservatives rebel against Boehner" there must have been a sense of déjà vu, as point after point reported at Breitbart was re-confirmed, this time with the stamp of approval from the Beltway Journo-list's favorite rag.
Indeed, Sherman himself must have been a bit chagrined after engaging in a public back-and-forth on Twitter with his Politico colleague Alex Burns that culminated in Burns accusing Breitbart of making up the news:

Politico is a junk news site run by nitwits.
On the other hand, we went from a sure-thing Boehner resignation, with almost 2 dozen conservatives voting against him, to 9 votes against him, and a re-election.
Anybody could have reported that Boehner would have some people vote against him. People were mad at him — Pelosi didn’t get all the votes from her caucus either.
You don’t get to say the speaker is going to be dethroned, and then claim that you got the story part-right because some people tried to dethrone him.
The story wasn’t that people would try — the story was whether they would succeed. And in that, they were wrong — at first.
Of course, we continue to mistakenly call fortune-telling “news”.
Leftists often cite Politico as a “reliable source”. That tells me all I need to know.
