Are you a cop? Do you carry a gun? Don't go to the Denny's in Belleville, Ill.
You are not allowed, the police chief says. Not after what happened Tuesday.
The flapjacks -- sorry, the flap -- began when several on-duty detectives with the Belleville Police Department dropped in to Denny's for some on-duty noshing, according to local media.

Imagine the chaos if the donut shops did this..........
Goose, gander, etc.
Ridiculous action, but somehow I still approve: cops seem to best understand the stupidity of stupid laws when THEY ALSO suffer the stupid effects.
Yeah, I’d do the same.
And I think everyone should sign the, “gun free zone” thing for the space around POTUS.
They want stupid laws? Let them also live by them.
ATTENTION! ALL THUGS, HOODLUMS, CRACK ADDICTS, ROBBERS, THIEVES and MISCREANTS!
DENNY’S IN BELLEVILLE , ILLINOIS IS NOW A COP FREE AND A GUN FREE ZONE!............................
Dispatch: ... 211, Denny’s, All Units
Patrol: ... !@$%#@%$@#$% You’re break @$#%#@#$%@ up.
I, for one, am glad of it. It’s very annoying to treat citizen gunowners one way, and police another. The only way we’re going to fix this is exactly how this situation worked out. Good job, Denny’s; good job, Chief. If the people don’t like it, they can change the rules.
Precisely my thinking.
Perhaps the local fire department packs.
..... The clock is now ticking .... just a matter of time before Denny’s becomes a popular new ATM withdrawal location for criminals in need of some quick cash.
"This individual [Rice] was the manager of Denny's. He therefore speaks for Denny's, in my mind. This policy effectively prohibits on-duty sworn police officers from dining in a Denny's Restaurant, but allows 'registered sex offenders,' 'felons' and or 'pedophiles' to enjoy a dining experience in Denny's."
Easy there you drama queen. Those people you denigrate are most likely Democrats, supporting your Democrat-controlled public-service union.

I agree. Cops are just citizens too. Whatever laws apply to me, also apply to them. And if laws are passed that allow police to have liberties that I am denied, then we have a police state.
Are Denny’s employees permitted to wear their guns when going into the Belleville police station?

A lesson from history: The agents of uncontrolled governments have committed orders of magnitude greater atrocities than ALL the non-government 'felons', 'registered sex offenders' and 'pedophiles' -- hell, throw in 'serial killers' and 'predatory rapists' while we're at it -- combined!
Keeping the government under control is JOB #1. Otherwise they tend to quickly become criminals of the first order, and then have all the guns to boot!
The Constitution wasn't written with the concern and intent of controlling the power of the criminal, but rather that of the State.
did you mean... glock?
My local Denny’s made the mistake of putting up a no-guns sign a while back. When regulars like your’s truly stopped coming in, they discovered that their best customers who also tip generously might have been offended.
Corporate found out and made them take the sign down. If corporate hadn’t done this, the gals that wait the tables were going to string up the franchise owner by his grand slam...
...’They had their badges and their guns, but as detectives, not their uniforms, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. This bothered a patron who then complained to a manager, David Rice, who then complained to one of the detectives: Please take your gun to your car or leave. No guns allowed.
“Upon further discussion, we became aware the individual was a plain-clothed police officer,” Denny’s spokeswoman Liz DiTrapano said in a statement, according to the News-Democrat. “Denny’s policy permits law enforcement officials to carry their firearms in the restaurant, and we regret any misunderstanding.”...’
Title is misleading
As a bridge player I am a bit confused. What convention are you referring to in order to reach such a grand slam? I have never heard of a string up but there is a strip play. Are they related? Thank you. :)
Wow! We have a completely different Denny’s in Fairbanks. Thank the Lord!
I’m getting da_n sick and tired of one partron, one parent or one any individual complaining and having schools change activities, businesses change policies the offend hundreds or thousands. This is getting totally rediculous. Tell the individual to shove it.
Denny’s employees seem to do a great job of ticking people off.
