What drama: Bachmann, Garrett, Blackburn wait till LAST MIN to cast vote for Boehner, bring the vote from 17 defections down at final second— Robert Costa (@robertcostaNRO) January 3, 2013
Who else were they supposed to vote for. No one else was running. If no one wanted the position enough to campaign for it then why should any vote for them.
Any idea who the 220 are?
UPDATE 1:
Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI), one of the four congressmen purged by Boehner, just voted for Rep. Raul Labrador (R-ID) as speaker.
UPDATE 2:
Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-OK) just voted for Cantor.
UPDATE 3:
Tea Party favorite Allen West, who lost his reelection to Congress, just got a vote for Speaker. (That's GA R Rep. Paul Broun)
UPDATE 4:
Rep. Jim Cooper (D-TN) votes for Colin Powell. Thats the second Democrat to defect from Pelosi.
UPDATE 5:
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) gives Allen West his second vote for speaker. Rep. Scott Garrett (R-N.J.) abstained.
UPDATE 6:
Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS), another purged congressman, votes for Rep. Jim Jordan, the head of the Republican Study Committee.
UPDATE 7:
Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) votes for David Jones, the former GAO comptroller. Yes, thats pretty random.
UPDATE 8:
Rep. Raul Labrador (R-ID) abstains. Thats four Republican abstentions and six defections from Boehner.
UPDATE 9:
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) votes Amash for Speaker. Both Massie and Amash are acolytes of retired Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX).
Rep. Mike McIntyre (D-NC) a Blue Dog Democrat, defected from Pelosi.
Hope this helps you for now.
Thanks for getting back to me. Where are you getting the updates from? I’m looking for a actual list of who voted for whom. Is there any such list that you know of?
The fact that Michelle was one of the votes absolutely breaks my heart.
We are alone.
thanks perdogg. didn’t mean to yell at you...more at the defeatism on the thread as a whole. :)
Yep. And that is why Romney was the nominee.
Too many conservatives running split the vote.
I’m not sure how we can accomplish that task with the same man who along with Mitt Romney stole defeat from the jaws of victory.
Tradition, good judgement, and prinsable demanded that we replace John with someone else. Not continue with his failed leadership.
I find myself wondering if it is their objective to have what we have a half hearten stalemate, to ignore logic and reasoning.
That’s because both parties work for the K-Street Money Changers.
It does not matter which party is in charge, the K-Streeters get their
Huge cut either way.
It really doesn’t matter any more. We have a terribly dysfunctional government led by dysfunctional elected officials who were put there by a dysfunctional electorate.
All of them are illusions.
They are shimmering mirages in the desert. They give you hope, but when you come to it, nothing is there except thirst and despair.
Just a slight update to your note:
Is Boehner the enemy of our freedom? YES.
No surprise. The useless and feckless gop gets the leadership it needs and deserves.
FORWARD.
Amen brother.
This is your “conservative” gop at work.
B..b..bb..buut we can’t have a third party! Not now! Now is not the time! Maybe after the next election. Yeah, that’s right. Later. We have to stay the course! The gop will turn around, just you watch!
(/dripping sarcasm)
Color me VERY disappointed! :(
How profound. You should remove Conservative from your name and replace it with Republican if you like Boehner so much. There are few congressmen that remain as conservative Republicans. That's why they won't get my money or support.
Why is anybody surprised????????????????????
They only have morals and backbone when they need votes.
There’s a lot to fear about having an incompetent boob in the White House.
