The Journal News of West Nyack, N.Y., has hired armed security guards to defend its offices after receiving a torrent of phone calls and emails responding to the paper's publication of the names and addresses of area residents with pistol permits.
RGA Investigations, a private security company, "is doing private security at on location at the Journal News as a result of the negative response to the article," according to a police report first obtained by the Rockland County Times (Nanuet, N.Y.) and shared with POLITICO. The guards "are armed and will be on site during business hours through at least January 2, 2013."
Last month, in the wake of last month's elementary school shooting in Newtown, Conn., the Gannett-owned Journal News published interactive maps showing the names and addresses of pistol permit holders in New York's Westchester and Rockland counties. Conservatives and gun rights advocates publicly protested the paper's move; on Monday, the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association called for a nationwide boycott of the paper's advertisers, calling it a wanton act that has put in harm's way tens of thousands of lawful license holders."
The Journal News continues to host the map on its website and has said that it will soon add a map listing all pistol permit holders in the County. (Snip)

Oh, the delicious, delicious irony...
Shouldn’t those security guards have peace signs instead? These libtard hypocrites..
Why doesn’t the newspaper declare their offices a Gun Free Zone and hold drills with all of the employees so that they know how to huddle in a corner and wait to be slaughtered. That’s what they want schoolchildren to do, but I guess that’s not good enough for them.
Same, old, boring libtune.,,We can dish it out but we shouldn’t have to take it.
Let’s hope they spend $150k+ and have to fire 2-4 reporters to compensate the newsroom budget. A-holes! You asked for it. Eat it, with some “navy gravy”!
I see. Guns are bad and evil, especially in the hands of private citizens. But guns are OK when in the hands of private... er... private... uh... How do you spell hypocrisy again, Caryn?
hahahahaha! O the irony!!!!
Will they be publishing the names of their employees who now own guns as a result of all of the death threats I’m sure they have received?
I do believe the thought of such massacres is a sexual stimulus to them ~ there's a term for the condition ~ believe it's 'vicarious sadosexual serial killer' ~ probably ought to lock these old birds up until they can be treated.
This is probably the condition that afflicts Joe Biden and Herb Kohl ~ they're the guys who started the whole Free Fire School Zones.
The emplyees of the paper now have their names and addresses published on several blogs.
This can’t be hypocrisy. It’s a well-known fact that only conservatives can be hypocrites.
C’est à rire
It is to laugh...
Liberals are pure evil!
I'll bet a few of them have personal security guards now, in addition to the office guards.
Journal News reporter Dwight R. Worley owns a Smith & Wesson 686 .357 Magnum and has had a residence permit in New York City for that weapon since February 2011.

They’ll only be safe if their property is declared a gun-free zone.
Looks like they took a page out of the military manuals because that is exactly what we are supposed to do. We can throw objects like staplers and telephones. Not much of a defense for someone with an AR who can cap you from outside throwing distance. They mus think we are all baseball pitchers or something.
The truly naïve notion is that the perfectly defenseless elementary school situation of a Sandy Hook, with its scary locked door and lines of beautiful floor-ceiling windows, can’t coexist in a country with completely porous borders, sleeper AQ cells, Gulan-style training camps in NY and PA, IRGC troops, Iraqi/Iranian/Palestinian/Egyptian ‘refugees, CAIR fanatics, and drug trunk lines from Central America through to Canada. Even someplace like Dayton, Ohio, apparently has over 200 gangs. Villainy lives within driving distance of most places now, unfortunately.
You're too kind.
Not kidding, you are too kind.
