Bump
Well, neither will the Senate...
Why all the fuss about midnight if it didn’t even matter and the Senate could vote on January first?
GOP leaders prefer to vote in broad daylight, sources said, instead of in the middle of the night.
“There is no difference in voting at 2 a.m. than tomorrow at 4 p.m.,” one of the GOP sources said.
GOP sources admitted there is an added benefit to the Senate’s delay: taxes would already be up, so lawmakers could argue that they are voting for tax cuts, as opposed to tax increases.
Puh-leeze. Enough of the ‘optics’, we’ve seen enough already. I can’t believe someone would say that...must be RINO advisors...and we saw how well that turned out last election.
If you are taking your time to actualy read every word and CONSIDER the bill, that’s the message the people should be hearing, not some wordsmithing about we’re now voting for tax cuts. And while you’re at it, throw some spending cuts in there, vote on them and send it back.
This has all been a sham.
“GOP sources admitted there is an added benefit to the Senate’s delay: taxes would already be up, so lawmakers could argue that they are voting for tax cuts, as opposed to tax increases”
They are such scum-all of them.
Wait until the new representatives are seated.A lame duck vote is not acceptable
I’m sick to my stomach being played by both sides. Whatever happened to the GOP promise to CUT taxes, vote on a real budget, cut entitlements, etc. i willo go to bed tonight praying there are still a few brave souls left in the House.
Not that laws matter anymore, but these criminals are no longer holding elected office. Game over end of 2012. Newly elected Congress takes it from here.
Always looking for new ways to lie and talk out both sides of their mouths.
This is as bad as the "close loopholes and cap deductions" for $800B in "revenue" crap Boehner was offering Ubama, as if that's not a tax hike. If you take $800B from the private sector and dump it down the big government toilet, it's a freaking tax hike. (And by the way, Grover Norquist can drop dead, too.)
I am up to here with all the lies.
LOL, Guess what, that deadline passed >1 hour ago.
Big deal.
I thought terms in the House and Senate expired at midnight.
Well if they are going over the cliff anyway then the house should take their time, muck up the works and not even vote until it is amended and includes spending cuts. Without spending cuts this is just a meaningless load of crap.
This is being done on a holiday whether its in the daylight or the middle of the night.
Here in PA our state legislature and the leaders of both parties used the July 4th holiday weekend back in 2005 to vote themselves, judges and other government officials pay raises of 16 percent.
The back room business as usual politicians will get the votes together to pass the dirty deal and give members who feel threatened by the Tea Party grassroots patriots the ability to vote NO.
The NO votes on this need more pressure than the YES ones because they must put conservative words and talk into conservative action.
The majority of the GOP that will likely oppose this deal must be a majority to replace liberal GOP leaders or form their own conservative caucus.
If they can’t or won’t, they are phony and blowing smoke to us folks back home.
Just heard from Brown’s office that they are voting at 1:40.
I need to go into the Physic business. All year long I have ranted about the GOP and how they are the go along to get along party and a few days ago I posted this reply on FR:

All of this over the cliff garbage is just that.
The Republicans caved in weeks ago and are waiting until the very list hour to finally make it public so that it will look like they fought almost to the death to capitulate to the enemy (Democrats).
In that way, they can say they did the best they could.
I expect the breakthrough..(ie. cave in) to occur about 11 pm on the final day before the cliff is reached.
