PRINCETON, NJ -- Americans again this year name Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama as the Most Admired Woman and Most Admired Man living in any part of the world. Clinton has been the Most Admired Woman each of the last 11 years, and Obama has been the Most Admired Man five years in a row. First lady Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and Condoleezza Rice are next in line behind Clinton on the Most Admired Woman list, while Nelson Mandela, Mitt Romney, Billy Graham, George W. Bush, and Pope Benedict XVI follow Obama as Most Admired Man.
These results are based on a Dec. 19-22 USA Today/Gallup poll. Gallup's "Most Admired" question is open-ended, asking Americans to name, without prompting, the man and the woman they most admire living in any part of the world. Gallup first asked Americans to name their Most Admired Man in 1946, and in 1948 expanded the question to both genders. The question was not asked in 1976, and in 1967 only the Most Admired Man question was asked.
The open-ended nature of the question produces the names of people with high top-of-mind name identification, most often hailing from the world of government and politics; the list also includes individuals who have become famous serving humanitarian causes and others whose fame comes from the business and entertainment worlds.
This year, seven of those on the top 10 Most Admired Man list are from the world of U.S. government and politics: Obama, Romney, the two George Bushes, Bill Clinton, Ron Paul, and John McCain. One is from international politics -- Nelson Mandela -- and three are from religious vocations -- Billy Graham, Pope Benedict XVI, and the Dalai Lama.

So you're good with obama and Mandella, eh?
“When you go, let me know if theres any homes/property for sale in the neighborhood. Things are at an obvious end, here.”

Well, I left some time ago, first to central Europe.
I am now in the Philippines, since 2009.
Foreigners here can not own property, but you can lease it, even for 30 years or more.
I rent a nice little two room furnished cottage at a beach
for $100 per month.
I have a Philippine wife and our two year old baby boy.
We do not need a car here. I go by bicycle anywhere in town, or by bus to the cities.
I think they called those people who were willing props for Obummer's little fiscal cliff chastising speechy thing today. Useful idiots love their masters.
I am gobsmacked by Romney’s name...completely gobsmacked it was included at all. It takes alot to gobsmack me.
Their are?
You bail out on your Country and think it is some thing to prousd of?
Why would we give a flying flick what you have to say?
Please tell me, fair weather "FRiend"
RE: but you can lease it, even for 30 years or more.
Does this lease INCREASE in value and can you “sell” your lease at a higher price before the 30 years are up?
The polls needed to match the aftermath of the fraud, right? Conspiracy? Yes, just like the major media barely covering Benghazi, one of the most criminal cover-ups ever to not rock a presidency.
Have the Founders cast their pearls before swine?
The first two worship God.
The other believes he IS god.

Not trying to scare you, but a lot of the beach front properties in New York and NJ were destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.
I hope you don’t live near a typhoon prone area.
Low information voters strike again.
Well, we could all be limited to telling you that we don’t admire Obama or Mandela, but the rest of us just took that for granted, and moved on to other names on the list.
Is that OK? Romney sucks as a human being, and since only weeks ago he was the pro-abortion, pro-homosexual agenda, pro-Romneycare GOP presidential candidate, he is worth mentioning as a disappointing surprise on the list.
I am no fan of Romney, we might of had a slim chance with him though, now what do we face?
Being on the Cover of TIME magazine’s PERSON OF THE YEAR does not necessarily make one the most admired. It could even make him/her the most hated.
TIME explains it as -— a person, group, idea or object that “for better or for WORSE, ...has done the most to influence the events of the year.”
utter complete failures...most admired my ass...maybe by idiots and morons...they are the 51% now
Are the subhuman murderous troglodyte muslim filth getting a foothold over there, yet? I worry about not being as well-armed somewhere else, as I am here. Also, I’d want 20ac or more for SHTF. It does sound like a very idyllic life you three have; I admire that... All The Best.
RE: I am no fan of Romney, we might of had a slim chance with him though, now what do we face?
Many FReepers and other conservatives who SAT OUT this election rather than pull the lever for Romney are just as responsible for helping Obama win.
They’d rather see the country go to hell for sure than take the slim chance it might not.
All of us will probably be gobsmacked by different ones. I am not surprised the president of the united states is respected by most polled. They usually are. But Romney? Respected? Gobsmacked I tell you!
