Speaking before a friendly crowd of middle-class families at the Old Executive Office building in Washington, D.C., this afternoon, President Obama addressed the ongoing fiscal cliff negotiations, claiming that the deal was not achieved in his preferred balanced approach because of Republicans unwilling to negotiate higher taxes on the wealthy. While noting that the current plan includes no new spending cuts, he also added that any future debt deals will have to include more tax increases.
The potential agreement thats being talked about would not only make sure the taxes dont go up on middle class families, it also would extend tax credits for families with children, he began. It would extend our tuition tax credit thats helped millions of families pay for college. It would extend tax credits for clean energy companies creating jobs and reducing our dependence and foreign oil. It would extend unemployment insurance to two million americans out there actively looking for a job.
The president noted that he hoped to use his speaking time to encourage the negotiating parties to recognize how pressing an issue the so-called fiscal cliff is to the average American and their economic concerns.

Back in the 90s I thought that I couldn’t possibly despise a US president more than I despised Clinton. Boy, was I wrong.

Obama
wants to go over the fiscal cliff so he can blame Republicans which is why he keeps upping the ante of poison pills to kill any compromise. And if the Republicans should be so desperate as to accept a deal Obama will be sure to publicize their broken promises to try to destroy the Republican party.
Politically smart? Maybe. Responsible? NO!

Every time the idiot makes a speech like that, he admits that he’s been lying about “tax cuts for the rich” for ten years, and he never gets called on it.

"While noting that the current plan includes no new spending cuts,..."
House Republicans allow the spending cuts to happen, if they simply allowed the awful "fiscal cliff" to happen automatically. Their favorite few plutocrat constituents would rather gobble more revenues and let our economy continue to crash. They'd rather continue to tell the lie (from their favorite constituents) about defense spending being cut the most (lie, as the greatest portion of automatic cuts would have been to civilian programs). Military spending could and would have been increased when needed, of course.
The default process will go on and be much more difficult, when it concludes. Have fun. Enjoy the slide.

Someone needs to tell “President Super Fly” that the election campaign is over. If he had to get down in the trenches and get has hands dirty like everyone else he’d be exposed as the intellectual lightweight he is.
