LIVING PRAYER
Brother Lawrence was a monk who lived almost 300 years ago and worked in the galley of his monastery. He wrote a book, The Practice of the Presence of God, which today is considered a classic in the area of Christian devotion. Brother Lawrence spent much of his time in the monastery scullery scrubbing pots and pans. He also had a collateral duty as the monastery cobbler. In these jobs, he said, he learned to glorify God in simple tasks and to pray with his hands. By bringing to each small job the best of his ability, he developed the practice of living prayer. Whether he was bustling around the galley, repairing shoes or kneeling in prayer, he learned to grow spiritually as well as mentally and to cultivate a never-ending, ever-deepening sense of God's presence.
Each day you do hundreds of small tasks. Perhaps you feel at times unrecognized or unnoticed, or that your job is insignificant in the great scope of things. The fact is it doesn't matter what you do or what position you hold. What really matters is the spirit in which you work, and how you approach your work. Brother Lawrence teaches us an important and very wise lesson: even the simplest tasks, when done to the best of your ability, are important in God's eyes. Whenever you bring to any job the best of yourself, your fullest mind, an honest heart, and a striving for excellence, then your work, no matter what you do, becomes like a living prayer to God.

Here's to health and happiness!
A toast to the New Year!
Peace and joy to all of us!
Prosperity and cheer!
Years come and go, some bad, some good.
New years provide the space,
Each to fill with what one would,
Windows onto grace.
Years come and go, yet still we toast
Each one, for each one seems
As though it were a new-found coast,
Rich with hope and dreams.

And a Blessed Lord’s Day to the MacNessa family. *HUGS*
A very weird day here...high winds, high temps in the mid 40s, and no more flocked trees. Thankfully I didn’t have to go out today.
Did you have a restful day? Snug and cozy at home?

Dear God:
I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman,
Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, or National Guardsman
Feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord;
For with the Lord there is loving kindness,
And with Him is abundant redemption.
And He will redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.
Psalm 130:7 & 8

Holy Sonnet XIV
Batter my heart, three person'd God; for, you As yet but knocke, breathe, shine, and seeke to mend, That I may rise, and stand, o'erthrow mee, and bend Your force, to breake, blowe, burn and make me new. I, like an usurpt towne, to another due, Labour to admit you, but Oh, to no end, Reason your viceroy in mee, mee should defend, But is captiv'd , and proves weake or untrue. Yet dearely I love you, and would be loved faine, But am betroth'd unto your enemie: Divorce mee, untie, or breake that knot againe, Take mee to you, imprison mee, for I Except you enthrall mee, never shall be free, Nor ever chast, except you ravish mee.

A restful day, thanks! Watched some football - saw Navy get slaughtered by AZ State - had to turn it off after the third quarter. :)
Very fatigued since I got out of the hospital. Slept in until 10:00 am this morning, will probably do the same tomorrow. Tomorrow, no activity planned except for going to Mass and watching the Redskins-Cowboys game.

A Lasting Letter
December 30, 2012
The family members who founded Hobby Lobby craft stores are born-again believers. The president, Steve Green, is passionate about the Scriptures and plans to establish a Bible museum that will display rare books and manuscripts from around the world. He said, We are interested in . . . encouraging people to consider what [the Bible] has to say. . . . The goal is to create a museum around the story of the Bible. No book has been persecuted as much or loved as much. Its incredible story needs to be told.
The Bible has been preserved through time in remarkable ways, and the museum will tell that story. The oldest copies we have of the New Testament are more numerous and closer to the date of the eyewitness events recorded than any other ancient document from that time. Their reports on Christ are more reliable than anything we know about Socrates or Caesar. It should not surprise us that God is behind the scenes using people and circumstances to pass on His inspired text of redemption. Isaiah eloquently proclaimed: The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God stands forever (Isa. 40:8).
As we read the Bible with an open heart, we long to share its message. Its Gods lasting letter to all.
The Bible stands and it will forever,
When the world has passed away;
By inspiration it has been given
All its precepts I will obey. Lillenas
In all literature there is nothing that compares with the Bible.
Read: Isaiah 40:1-8

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.
