My brother-in-law (hubby’s big brother) is Pastor of a Parish with an elementary school. He will be subject to those same fines when he defies the order. Hubby told him he’d be happy to occupy a jail cell with him, if it came to that.
You have a brilliant grandson!
It was part of the “You have to pass it to find out what’s in it” legislation.
Check out the ‘leather tools’ at Hobby Lobby. I’m sure you can find something that punches holes in leather, and it would work like a charm for the fleece to put a large enough hole in it to do a blanket stitch, or even a single or double crochet stitch.
My son was hoping to make something like this for me for Christmas last year. I’ll have to let him know about this paint; he can try it again!
It’ll be a shame if they close but the effect on the economy will be less than a blip. A new and similar hobby store chain will soon arise to fill the void, and Hobby Lobby will have accomplished nothing but its self-destruction. Capitalism, like nature, abhors a vacuum.
True, but the far more reaching and bell weather effect of this case rests with 1st Amendment rights. Obamacare has just unconstitutionally negated the 1A and the SCOTUS has folded on it again for the 2nd time. Congress will do NOTHING. Emperor Obama has spoken.
Exactly what I’m talking about. This idea of rights only applying to special interest groups, lobbies with power and money and friends of the elite is getting very old. And most people seem to be insensate zombies who don’t know or don’t care that their rights are being stripped away in methodical fashion.
You have a brilliant grandson!”
More likely a easy mark for a grannie. We do have fun looking at all the stuff at Hobby Lobby though. And I know we have looked at every car on every car lot in every dealership for miles around. I feel special because both of my grandsons love to go poking around interesting places with me though. Lots of grandkids don’t want to do much with their grandparents.
They're gonna have great memories!
Many spray paint products have been tried-—silver, chrome. nickle-—but Krylon Looking Glass does the trick. Hard to find-—but Hobby Lobby has it.
Some crafters spray droplets of water inside the glass before spray painting——has that antique look after it dries.
ANTIQUING GLASS CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS
MARTHASTEWART.COM...has this simple technique that lends new, shiny glass ornaments the muted, authentic appearance of antique mercury glass in. NOTE: As authentic mercury glass ages, it loses some of its luster and tends to darken in spots. DIY'ers will need a little paint and small sponges to get the effect.
Tools and Materials---1 small tube of white gouache paint, 1 small tube of black gouache paint, 2 small natural sponges,Tissues
How-To
1. Place tea each white/black paint in separate bowls. Dilute with water droplets til consistency of heavy cream. 2. dab entire surface with sponge dipped in white gouache cream. 3. While still wet, use tissues to gently dab creating a mottled look. 4. W/ 2nd sponge, lightly and sparingly dab a few places with black gouache. 5. Use clean tissues to lighten and blur the black spots, creating the appearance of flaked mercury glass. 6. Let dry for at least 1 hour.
I have an eyelet punch and it would not go through the fleece. Just got a new skip stitch wheel for my old ‘pizza’ fabric cutter hoping it will do the job, although using the ‘pizza’ cutter is hard on my hands and back. My good cutter is a Martelli which moves like a mouse, but holes are different to attach blades.
Will look at HB next time I’m out that way. I do fancy stitches around mine especially for the girl grands and greats, guys get plainer as they would not like fancy as well.
After I get Lunch at Chick Filet Monday (not open on Sunday) I’ll drop by Hobby Lobby and buy some I-Phone Stylus’s.....or sumthin else if they don’t have them.
“..thinking of a way to scrounge up $10 and buy pens, pencils, maybe a good pair of scissors? And support these Hobby Lobby / Mardel Book Store people.”
Great idea.
bttt - thanks for the ping
I agree and share your alarm. However, the Court’s decision didn’t surprise me as we already had the precedent of the Civil Rights Act’s infringements on property rights/business owners’ free choices being ruled constitutional.
Thanks ELS! I wanted to particiate in the purchase day and thought I'd have to place an order on-line. Hopefully the power stays on that day! :-)
