Saw this the other day and can't stop thinking about it. It makes all the sense in the world that conservatives would be despondent after Obama's re-election. But more despondent than liberals were after the Bushitler's re-election?

Why are the numbers so much worse for Republicans now than they were for Democrats in 2004? It can’t be because the GOP thinks Obama’s done irreversible damage to the U.S.; Bush-hating liberals thought the same about Dubya. Besides, we’ve got a deep bench for 2016. Is it a demographic thing, with Republicans fearing that they’ll never (or seldom) enjoy power again?
Update: An obvious possibility: It's not just politics that’s got Republicans down. Democrats in 2004 could console themselves with the fact that the economy was doing fine and their jobs were secure. Not so now.

Maybe it’s because the blog commentators we supposedly have on our side are Manchurian douches who are trying to make the Republican Party a lite version of the Democratic Party.
That and the fact that GHWB was a RINO, GWB was a worse RINO, McCain was a worse RINO and Romney was an even worse RINO.
Hard for things to look up when we consider the next pitiful RINO the GOP will foist off on us!

My poor grandkids. My wife and I have worked for 40 years each to ensure that they inherit a better country than we did. They may well inherit a country in absolute, total chaos.

One wonders what sort of opinions about the future were registered in polls - if, in fact, there were any - in the opening years of Lenin’s revolution.
I’m guessing thoughts of those with even so much as two gray cells to rub together were fairly bleak.
Fortunately for public opinion - at least as far as Obama is concerned - the number of Americans with two gray cells to rub together in the nation’s ethnic population, and among American academics, entertainers, and media figures, is virtually nil.
And yet I wonder how many “conservatives”, including many here, dutifully line u to vote for those RINOs and then come here to complain. I bet they will STILL do it in 2016.

In 2004 the Feds weren’t borrowing $1.06 for every dollar in tax revenues. Democrats worry that entitlements may not go up as fast as they planned. Pubs worry (correctly) that the country is rapicly heading to bankruptcy.
I can speak for myself about why I think we’re more despondent. The fact that Bush got re-elected was par for the course, more of the same. The Dems weren’t facing any sea change that seemed insurmountable.
With Obama’s first re-election, we had plenty of reasons to write it off as a fluke (bad Rep. candidate, anger against Bush, anti-war sentiment, the economic crash, first black candidate, etc). Now that he’s re-elected, most of those excuses have been shredded, and we are left facing a real gamechanger. There’s no disputing any more that America IS stupid enough to elect an open communist as President.
They didn’t vote while blinded by sentiment, or out of ignorance, and they weren’t voting against Republicans rather than for Obama. They know what he is, and that is what they really wanted. That is a huge development, and a very disconcerting one.

Yes, it’s thinking about my grandchildren that breaks my heart. Worst of all, they will never know what a unique and God-inspired country this once was. They will accept their chains without question.
Bush ended the GOP when he invaded Iraq. The left became motivated and organized.

Dear Leader isn’t going anywhere in 4 years. We need to get used to it.
Because the Republican Party refuses to fight, they aren't even in the game, they are completely useless to this country.
The Democrats play to win and they play for keeps while the Republicans are sitting on the sidelines wondering if the color of the white chalk on the field clashes with the green grass.
yeah the dems will get disenfranchised at some point - they always do.
Then we yo yo back to Rinos who will appear to fix something but really don’t.
If the Rep where smart they would start to play like they want to win. The dems cheat, lie, steal, and whatever - I suppose those are the rules - let’s play by those rules.
Stop looking at rhetoric and start looking at results.
These will be four more terrible years, and many Americans will suffer because on average we have already consumed more than half of our wealth and savings in the four years of misery we survived to date. In 1794, President George Washington personally led an army of about 13,000 to suppress the Whiskey Rebellion, and nearly the entire army was honored to be led by Washington and completely loyal. He could do that because of his experience and proven high character.
Obama would have to do at least as much to hold power beyond January 20, 2017. Can you imagine (1) Obama actually leading soldiers effectively, or (2) our military following unlawful orders issued by a petty tyrant whom all decent soldiers despise? America may not survive four more years of socialism, but whatever is left where our country used to be will be freed of Obama on schedule. Obama will probably retire with a smug grin and the confidence that we will be unable to recover from the damage inflicted; he is too big a sissy to push his luck.

Those who do not vote for him for a third term are racists.
Obama is doing irreversible damage (Obamacare, Sotomayor, Kagan...), but the GOP has no one to blame but themselves.
We can blame Bush for electing Obama in 2008, but 2012 was the culmination of pro-Democrat demographic shifts that were in large part supported by the stupid party (i.e. the GOP).
Whether it was failing to ever do anything about the 1965 Immigration act (which was passed behind a bunch of false promises) which reignited mass immigration on a nation that never wanted it, or actually signing into law the absurd Diversity Visa Lottery in the early 90s, or sabotaging the Jordan Commission’s recommendation in the mid 90s to cut immigration by at least a third (even Clinton initially signaled support for it), the GOP has been almost completely worthless. I say ‘almost’ only because they did stop Bush the Younger’s insane attempts to legalize millions of new Democrats and increase the future flow of Democrats even beyond the current high levels.
But it’s obvious really that mass immigration was always going to favor the Democrats. For every way that Hispanics or Asians are allegedly ‘natural Republicans’, there is a more powerful and real way that they are natural Democrats. This will not change.

America can succeed, but we need to root for America.
And we need to make things here. Not spend money buying and supporting China.
The GOP needs to become America’s biggest supporter. Support things made in America.
Buy things made in America.
And STOP sending US jobs abroad. Bring them back.
Now.
That was the goal. Sadly, many republicans would say the same thing and mean it seriously.
