NBC was told by the Washington, D.C., police that it was not permissible to show a high-capacity gun magazine on air before Sundays Meet the Press, according to a statement Wednesday from the cops.
Ah yes, the ol' "ignorance IS and excuse" get out of jail card. Doesn't work for me or you, but if you're a blow dried shill for the police state you get to do just about anything.
That nails it; thanks.
gun clip - is that something to hold the gun in the holster?
The empty clip is then removed and discarded or will be ejected when the bolt is run into battery.
We used to be able to get 7.62X39mm on 10-rd strippers too - for the SKS. I don't think they work on AKs, do they?
Never had much luck using them on the SKS, but those who know the trick can re load those fixed magazines with a clip pretty quickly.
Your little laws are for the little people.
Watch them use the rather plain language of the First Amendment to make the case that they are exempt from restriction, completely missing the irony of their stance supporting - nay, promoting - the myriad restrictions “permissible” under the equally plain Second Amendment.
David Gergory should be in jail. Now they cannot pretend they didn’t know.
Was wondering that myself.
NBC should be embarrassed that there are many people in the Washington, DC, area who understand gun laws better than one of its own prominent journalists to whom they pay a large salary to inform the nation about issues such as gun laws.
That’s why the phones rang off the hook at police headquarters when David Gregory broke the law on national television. David Gregory has besmirched the reputation of ‘’Meet the Press,’’ and if he doesn’t actually wear a dunce cap on his head from now on, many of his viewers will know that he deserves one.
Why do nitwits keep referring to magazines as clips!!!
Ignorance is no defense — it was Gregory who had it on the air and is unable to claim otherwise.
Not necessarily — many cops are pro-gun.
Doesn’t matter — the law says that possession of a 30 rd mag in DC is a crime, even without cartridges in it. The law may be an ass, but it IS the law there.
30-rd mags are legal in VA.
Only when they are hoist by their own petard.
Jail him and the asshats that gave it to him. Let them live by their laws.
Thats exactly the point of why we want Gregory arrested. If we all marched into DC waving 30 round mags, we would all be immediately be arrested. David Gregory would not. THAT is the issue.
And yes, the head of the executive branch does indeed have the ability to display evidence for the public. Police chiefs do it every day. A president can most certainly display some crack that DEA agents have seized. Afterwards, he returns it to the agent who gave it to him, to return to it evidence or send it for destruction. A news reporter has no such right.
He was clearly stoned.
Hmm... Why did I think the 5.56mm were on 5rd stripper clips?
Brain fart! Thanks!
Mark
I remember Chong (of Cheech and Chong) getting hauled off to federal prison for selling glass and metal in shapes that could be used to smoke marijuana, among other dried leaves.
Made no sense then, makes no sense now.
