No Fiscal Cliff Deal Could Cause Jails To Release Inmates

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A scenario that police in western Oregon feared came true in the thick of holiday season after two dozen inmates were freed from a county jail that could no longer afford to hold them.

Less than an hour after one low-level offender walked out, authorities say, he was demanding that a bank teller hand over money.

In a time of budget cuts, cases where inmates get out of jail with little punishment only to commit more serious crimes shortly after their release have become all too common, authorities say.

Many in law enforcement predicted this would happen, and it could get worse if the nation goes over the so-called fiscal cliff.

Local, State and the Federal governments pigged out on good times while no one was paying enough attention, expanding their scope of work (fifdoms) and the number of government employees.

Whole areas of “rule” have to be dissolved. The government has to be studied and the scope of work cut big time so they can maintain basic services and infrastructure. In an effort to raise taxes to keep the suckers’ gig going, they will threaten the public by releasing criminals on us. Many have no ethics at all. It’s just self service.

It’s a mess.

Besides, goobermint officials can empathize easily with criminals these days

Actually, the real criminals don’t like the competition the pols give them.

There is a ‘love-hate’ relationship, and yes, their is honor among thieves, at least a professional courtesy, much like sharks and lawyers have for each other.

YOU CAN’T TELL THE PLAYERS WITHOUT A SCORECARD.

“Similarly, the primary responsibility of local government is public safety.”

And like a myriad of other “federal government intrusions,” “giving federal dollars to local and state LEO’s gets us to where we are today. It is time that the governments from the state on down got off the fed gov tit! We’re going to end up like Mexico, where LEO’s get free gas and ammunition and have to go out and “earn” their keep. But the public isn’t all stupid. Just look at gun sales and you know that a lot of people are reading the tea leaves.

The liberal CBS news is certainly straining for a story.

These prisoners were released November 30th. NOT during “holiday season” as claimed by the article. Obviously the timing was off so they decided to sit on the facts until Christmas Day.

No fiscal cliff deal could cause government to live within its means.

Whatever crimes these animals commit... we should charge obama with every one of them.

Ah, the beauty of blackmailing the local communities while demonizing the Republicans in DC. Sadly, the libtards will bark and clap like the seals they are.

This is a scare tactic to get people to approve more taxes.

They won’t blame Bush. That role has been taken over by “this stonewalling Republican Congress”

Good. Let the liberal "men without chests" (as CS Lewis put it) deal with these inmates, many of whom should have been put to death, not put in jail.
