Jewel of America. Thomas Sowell.
Thomas Sowell is a national treasure, but 53 per cent of the population would not agree.
"Although all men are born free, slavery has been the general lot of the human race. Ignorant - they have been cheated; asleep - they have been surprised; divided - the yoke has been forced upon them. But what is the lesson? ...the people ought to be enlightened, to be awakened, to be united, that after establishing a government they should watch over it.... It is universally admitted that a well-instructed people alone can be permanently free." James Madison
Dr. Sowell continues to show us what America looks like in the mirror. Even on a bad day, he is smarter than EVERYONE in Washington and over 90% of America.
If we could have a "Dream Team" in the WH, it would be with Drs. Sowell and Williams. Two, exceptionally intelligent, sensible and clear thinking men.
And, on this Christms Eve, let's all thank God that they are conservatives!!
Thank you, Mr. Sowell, for your thoughts. It gives me hope for the new year to realize that our nation still one real intellectual who dares to express himself.
Jazusamo - thanks for posting “Random Thoughts”; I love Thomas Sowell, he lives in realville.
If you have been voting for politicians who promise to give you goodies at someone elses expense, then you have no right to complain when they take your money and give it to someone else, including themselves.
Liberals seem to assume that, if you dont believe in the particular political solutions, they you dont really care about the people that they claim to want to help.
It is amazing that people who think we cannot afford to pay for doctors, hospitals, and medication somehow think that we can afford to pay for doctors, hospitals, medications and a government bureaucrat to administer it.
Elections should be held on April 16th, the day after we pay our income taxes. That is one of the few things that might discourage politicians from being big spenders.
I think this man (Obama) really does believe he can change the world, and people like that are infinitely more dangerous than mere crooked politicians.
Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it.
Much of the social history of the Western world, over the past three decades, has been a history of replacing what worked with what sounded good.
One of the consequences of such notions as entitlements is that people who have contributed nothing to society feel that society owes them something, apparently jus for being nice enough to grace us with their presence.
If you have always believed that everyone should play by the same rules and be judged by the same standards that would have gotten you labeled a radical 60 years ago, a liberal 30 years ago, and a racist today.
I have never understood why it is greed to want to keep the money youve earned, but not greed to want to take somebody elses money.
It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.
Thomas Sowell, that's who. After you read them once or twice, put them aside and then come back and read them again. They're powerful!!
BTW
I wonder if its okay to call a liberal a racist, if they dont agree with Thomas Sowells thoughts and wisdom.
Thanks for the post.
Thomas Sowell's random thoughts are far better than 99.99% of the population's organized thoughts.
People who pride themselves on their “complexity” and deride others for being “simplistic” should realize that the truth is often not very complicated. What gets complex is evading the truth. - Thomas Sowell
Yes sir.
Had someone once define my little .22 as a "assault weapon" because it was not a single shot.
"If someone wrote a novel about a man who was raised from childhood to resent the successful and despise the basic values of America and who then went on to become President of the United States that novel would be considered too unbelievable, even for a work of fiction. Yet that is what has happened in real life."
I'd comment on how Dr. Sowell is in rare form, but that would be untrue. He's in his usual, scintillating form, which happens to be vanishingly rare among so-called public intellectuals.
God bless this amazing fount of common sense.
