Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said Thursday that he had started discussions with leaders of the State Legislature about new gun control measures, and that he planned to propose a package of gun legislation in his State of the State address on Jan. 9.
Theres a big difference of opinion on these issues, Mr. Cuomo, a Democrat, said in an interview on an Albany radio station.
The New York Assembly, controlled by Democrats, has voted for a number of proposed gun control measures in recent years, only to have the legislation falter in the Senate, which has been controlled by Republicans. (Starting next month, the Senate is to be led by a coalition of Republicans and a breakaway faction of Democrats.)
Mr. Cuomo, speaking on WGDJ-AM, said gun control had not recently been among the most discussed topics in the capital, so he had reached out to lawmakers to gauge where they stood before he...

He added that he was focusing his attention on changing state laws restricting the possession of assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines. The governor described the states existing ban on those items as having more holes than Swiss cheese.
I dont think legitimate sportsmen are going to say, I need an assault weapon to go hunting, he said. At the same time, he noted that he owns a shotgun that he has used for hunting, and said, There is a balance here I understand the rights of gun owners; I understand the rights of hunters.
In the interview, Mr. Cuomo did not offer specifics about the measures he might propose, but, while discussing assault weapons, he said: Confiscation could be an option. Mandatory sale to the state could be an option. Permitting could be an option keep your gun but permit it....

Confiscate what, CUOMO? No one will go along with that.
“Confiscation, eh? Im sure theyll get the bullets first.”
From an email sent to me tonight from a friend across the state line in New York:
“I usually check our Want Ad Digest WEB site every day for guns and ammo for sale.
I now see today they changed the site from “Guns and Ammo” to Firearms, ammo is NO longer listed, nor sold!”
Whenever a politician starts using the words "legitimate/responsible/common sense" it means they are deadly serious about enslaving the People.
I also suggest he start his confiscation in NYC (Bloomie won't mind). In the nicer areas like the Bronx, Harlem, Hells Kitchen, and 'certain zip codes' in Queens. I'm suuuuure he'll be a smashing success in those places.
(However, if I was Mrs Cuomo (is there one?) I'd make dam sure his life Insurance premiums are paid to date!)
The problem is that none of these liberal anti-gun politicians and talking heads defines the term “assault weapon”. It could mean an automatic rifle (already banned) or it could mean a 9mm with more than 10 rounds or it could mean whatever they want it to mean. Unless they define the term, we are in for complete obliteration of our 2nd amendment rights.
Did anyone else think that the speech by the NRA pres yesterday was... stupid? To make taxpayers put an armed guard in every school in the country? Increase the size and scope of govt... again? He did NOT mention repealing the Gun Free School Zones that put big targets on our schools for every criminal and psycho. I was really disappointed. He could have done so much better. Thoughts?
there are school districts that already have cops in the schools. nobody compares those school areas.
Let’s be clear: This is not about gun confiscation, this is about full implementation of the liberal/socialist/communist agenda, which requires that the populace be helpless, unarmed, and unable to effectively object.
It is the duty and obligation of Americans in the mould of our founding fathers to react to and overthrow tyranny that will ooze up from time-to-time.
This has nothing to do with crime. That’s proven by the history of where they have implemented strict gun-control laws; violent crime goes up! They also know the last AWB had no positive effect at all, it did nothing it was supposed to do.
So then we are left with why do they want to disarm millions of Americans? Not one democrat has ever refuted or rebuffed Bill Ayers call for killing 25 million Americans. They almost worship the murderous Stalin, Chavez, China, Russia, et al. Not one of them ever says they condemn the mass murders they have done.
Since they have no legitimate reason for their gun control arguments and they have a history of supporting the murderers of political dissidents it follows their reason for this push is to make it hard for us to fight back so as to make it easy for them to round up, kill or imprison people like me.
One thing is for sure, when the entire internet goes down and you see those armored trucks rolling up to your neighbors it means the balloon has gone up and it's time for you and the rest of the community to go on the offensive. But don't waste your time engaging the U.N. pukes. When killing snakes you cut of their heads.
80 million legal gun owners in the U.S.
Let’s assume (and I think this is a very big assumption) that 90% of us act like sheep and willingly turn in our weapons when we’re told to.
That leaves 8 million legal gun owners.
Where are the people going to come from to go get all those weapons?
And that’s just the legal ones. I don’t see where Governor Awesomepants is going to have a plan to get all the guns away from MS-13, the Mafia, Bloods, Crips, etc.
Yeah good luck with that in Upstate.
...Confiscation Could Be an Option...
So could civil war, govna...

“The left wants a civil war....”
That’s a fact. But they may not like what happens to them once the battle is joined.
I’d hate to be Como’s bodyguards, because they are going to have to be his line of defense when the hordes go after Como.
