Former RNC Chairman Michael Steele called the National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierres press conference Friday very haunting and very disturbing, in the wake of the Dec. 14 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
I dont even know where to begin. As a supporter of the Second Amendment and a supporter of the NRA even though Im not a member of the NRA I just found it very haunting and very disturbing that our country now is talking about arming our teachers and our principals in classrooms, Steele said on MSNBC immediately after LaPierre finished his comments.
Steele continued: What does that say about us? What does that say about us? I do not believe that is where the American people want to go. I do not believe that is the response that should be coming out of the tragedy out of Newtown.
Delaware State Attorney General Beau Biden who is Vice President Joe Bidens son said there wasnt a meaningful dialogue in the press conference, in which LaPierre did not take reporters questions.
Biden added: [There] has to be a much more robust and meaningful dialogue about whether there are certain types of weapons consistent with the second amendment
that just shouldnt be in the hands of citizens other than those types of assault weapons that you take to battle that dont belong in our communities. And thats the discussion that I hope we have in a meaningful way.
This is the same idiot who once told a magazine he loved “Frank Sinatra and the Pack Rats”! He’s a guy with an IQ of 40 pretending to be profound.
What does it say about us?
It says that a rather large number of us are sick and tired of watching the policies you idiots enact get people killed. Thats what it says.
Next question.
LAPIERRE: Now, the National Rifle Association knows there are millions of qualified and active retired police, active, Reserve, and retired military, security professionals, certified firefighters, security professionals, rescue personnel, an extraordinary corps of patriotic, trained, qualified citizens to join with local school officials and police in devising a protection plan for every single school.
We could deploy them to protect our kids now. We can immediately make Americas schools safer, relying on the brave men and women in Americas police forces.
To the point, he hasn’t been the Chairman since January 2011. We did as well as we did in the 2010 midterms in spite of his incompetence, not because of his skills.
In many schools security people are not in uniform.
I knew they had armed guards at schools in Israel. I was surprised to learn they also do this in Peru and in the Philippines. Granted, those countries have terrorist problems, but we're getting to that point.
“Blaming games or movies is the same as blaming guns.”
No, your wrong... Games and movies use marketing to promote their products, using killing seines to promote their products. When have you ever seen that with firearms mfg’s?
Sick of the MSM running to Mark Kelly for his opinion on the NRA.

Michael Steele—he just keeps rising from the CINO crypt, just when you had hoped you had heard the last of his idiocies.
Well Mr. Steele, you apparently have little idea about the purpose of a gun.
WTF? NRA’s La Pierre made some good points. His job is to protect the 2nd Amendment a law-abiding gun owners. I don’t get this.
You left out “idiot” between “Action” and “alert”.
Beau is just as dumb as his father. He said “....assault weapons that you take to battle”. That’s exactly why the second amendment was written, Beau. At the time the patriots were fighting battles with the king’s army.
You really don’t know the ONLY reason he was appointed RNC?
I would open up two types of schools and give parents the choice of where to send their kids. One set of schools would remain gun free zones and the other would have volunteer teachers and administrators who are armed. I know which school I would send my kids to.
“Safety is not the issue and never has been the issue. Getting all guns out of the hands of the public is the issue.”
Exactly. The reaction to the NRA proposal proves that the left is not interested in protecting kids. If there was a rash of bank robberies the rational response would be armed guards. The same for schools. The truth is the left and media deeply HATE THE NRA and want to destroy it. They smell blood in the water and they are in a frenzy.
More disturbing then having 20 children gunned down?
I was a little disturbed by the conference, but not for the same reason as the MSNBCer Steele. Wayne LaPierre should have stressed the right of every individual to defend himself & others with a gun, with the emphasis on individual;”
Not to mention that millions of gun owners had nothing to do with this atrocity and must not be punished for it. It is unjust to attack a group for the actions of a madman. It is unjust to sieze their property or to criminalize law abiding citizens. We are innocent unless proven quilty. That is what must be stressed.
What’s funny is that in ‘moderate’ California I do believe that all of the state’s universitys(UC’s and CSU’s) have an armed police force that patrols their respective campuses. Even many of CA’s high schools have armed guards. It appears however that one of the most vulnerable segments of society, elementary/middle school citizens, are not deemed worthy of such consideration. I know I’m supposed to ‘love’ people but it’s getting harder and harder to suppress the utter contempt I have for many folk........and I’m in the ‘caring’ health profession.
