Rep. Dennis Baxley is suggesting a novel approach for preventing a repeat of the kind of shooting massacre that occurred last Friday in Newtown, Conn.: arm principals and teachers with guns.

“Have to think about the idea. Most teachers and administrators are flaming liberals.”
If you can’t trust them with guns, why would you trust them with our kids?

I don’t.
But I voted yes anyway for tactical reasons. ;-)

Case in point, from an email I received this morning:
FREEP THIS POLL ***PING!*** FRmail me if you want to be added or removed from the Fearless Poll-Freeping Freepers Ping list. (multiple votes using multiple internetz devices are allowed!) Yup, it doubled. I’ll have to split the ping list when I ping and see if that works again.

Thanks for da ping!
Given a large percentage of public educators are of liberal political persuasion, the issue is which adults should be armed in American schools ? Preferably, an educator will volunteer for such training rather than be mandated against personal beliefs. No parent will believe their child is secure if an anti gun/code pink sympathetic principal is mandated to be armed.
Principals, teachers and office staff should all be trained to handle safely a handgun. They should have the option to be armed. It doesn’t matter how many are actually carrying, only that a sicko knows that he does not know which ones are armed. He will be deterred. There will be no shootings, no shootouts.

I am a teacher. I volunteer wholeheartedly to be armed at school!! I will protect your children with deadly force if need be with NO mercy shown to anyone deigning to harm children!!
I wonder, do schools have a legal responsibility to protect the children when the latter are in those schools? If so, and they fail in their responsibilities, can the school districts be sued for negligence? In other words, can a wrongful death suit be filed against the district, the teachers and their union?
Thank you for voting!
