House Speaker John Boehner signaled on Friday he's still open to negotiations with President Barack Obama on avoiding across-the-board tax increases set to hit taxpayers Jan. 1, but sounded pessimistic about reaching a grand deal with the president.
"How we get there, God only knows," Boehner told a Capitol Hill news conference just hours after his rank-and-file handed him a stunning tactical defeat.
The Republican leader spoke the morning after he was forced by his members to abandon legislation that would have raised taxes on incomes above $1 million. "We didn't have the votes to pass it," Boehner said glumly.

The Boehner Plan B passing higher tax rates on millionaires will increase the tax a few individuals have to pay, it will not increase tax revenues to the treasury.
He has to do this, to not piss off Obama and the Democrats so much they don't give him any money with which to buy his constituents' votes again.
To this end, he'll cave on the very next 'offer' (actually a final demand) that Obama sends down to him. He'll think he'll come out okay and his seat is safe in 2014, but he'll be wrong. A crying little bitch. A bitch that is too damned stupid to push Obama to the edge like he should be.
One day, the producers of this country will just plain give up. Sheaves rotting, fields laying fallow, crops unpicked by their "migrant undocumented workers", milk unmilked and so on. Why? It just ain't gonna be worth it no more when you can get an EBT card, Section 8, SNAP, ETIC, and an Obama phone.
This republican is no leader. He needs to go.

Boehner is desperately trying to throw away the ace that he holds. Obama can’t do jack if the debt ceiling is not raised. Why should he be chasing after Obama? Make Obama come to him.
Obama must be getting off on this spectacle, Republican leaders groveling before him.....pleading for crumbs.....Boehner looks like he’s about cry again....in desperate need of a stiff drink and a cigarette.
