Newt Gingrich said that conservatives will have to accept marriage equality after three more states this year voted to allow same sex marriage and more will likely do the same in the 2014 election.

The former Speaker of the House said he didn

We may not want to listen to a man on gay marriage who has been married three times. And dumped his cancer-stricken wife to fornicate with a woman while he was STILL married.

don't read much, do you???

I was a Santorum supporter.

I like Santorum, but he had no chance at all to win , Romney was a viable candidate, Santorum wasn't.

Excellent point!! Newt’s been in politics too damned long to trust anything he says. Are you seeing the pattern here?

We should all just go out and “marry” the person who will do us the most good on our tax return and really screw the government.

Hey Mitt, a bunch of freepers actually bought all that "I found Jesus" stuff and flamed ANYONE who questioned if it was a campaign ploy! Suckers!

It appears his conversion to Catholicism/annulments was simply a political ploy, as pointed out by many.

you don't convert to Catholicism, you return to it. If you were baptized by anyone, anywhere, in whatever church building, arena, auditorium, wherever....you were baptized Catholic....no other baptism is possible.

I can’t believe I supported this charlatan during the primaries. I mean, yeah, anyone looked more conservative than Romney, but still...I’m ashamed of myself. I fell for his illusion of conservatism.

I apologize to any FReepers I got into arguments with. You were right.

Santorum ran Romney a close second through most of the primary. If he hadn’t been demonized, and if Newt and others hadn’t split the vote, he might have won.

Would he have done worse than Romney? Romney ran a really lousy campaign. He never really took Obama on at all. I think Santorum might have done better, once he had a chance to really get out there and speak to people directly, instead of having the entire GOPe constantly lie about what he was saying.

He was a long shot but he was a hell of a lot more "viable" that Newt was. The Newties constantly demanded Santorum "drop out so he won't split the conservative vote and give us Romney" when Newt was ahead in the polls, then steadfastly refused to budge from the race when Santorum had won a dozen primaries and Newt had only won 2 states and had zero chance of being the nominee (they continued to buy into the "brokered convention" fantasy while working to deny Santorum delegations).

Can you say hypocrisy?

Newt is by far the most bizarre politician I’ve ever seen. His actual record is, for the most part (without getting into his personal life too much), largely conservative and effective. Half the time, his speech is as well. Its the other half the time when he’s talking and he says totally stupid stuff like this.

Newt is DC first and foremost. I don’t know that he gets invited to too many parties, but for some idiotic reason, he still has that longing to make his enemies like him. They don’t and never will, but as smart as he is, that idea totally escapes him.

Ditto. You never see liberal politicians like Diane Feinstein lecture the "progressive" activists and say "Look, I know we all want more gun control laws, but we're just gonna have to accept it will never happen because polls show the public is overwhemlingly against us and gun control legislation keeps getting defeated. We're just gonna have to learn to accept Conceal Carry and get used to all kinds of guns in public"

Oh yeah, that's right up there clangin' hard on the old Bell Curve Einstein, you must be some kinda rocket surgeon.

...if you can't make sense of what you're saying...

Oh, I can make sense of it. Let's see:

Newt supports fags.
During his career, Newt has done some major switch-hitting.

You know, if you still support Newt...you might just be a packer.

If Obama can get elected and re-elected, if Obamacare can be found to be constitutional with the Chief Justice changing his vote under pressure from Obama, if Obama can fix the vote in the key states to steal his re-election, how hard is it going to be to legalize gay marriage? Newt is just stating that the fix is probably in with this Supreme Court. We can object all we want, just like abortion.

Uh, no incorrect. The Catholic Church recognizes baptisms in other Christian faiths as long as they are Trinitarian. It does not make them a Catholic baptism. And you do become a convert to the faith if you go through the proper training (RCIA for example). If you were not baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit then you must do so along with completing your Rite of Christian Initiation. Some Christian faiths do not perform Trinitarian baptisms, so in this case you will be baptized Catholic obviously because you are “converting” to the faith.

Sorry, Newt - Kansas and 28 other states forbid it. My Church forbids it. It will never be a federal issue.

You fell for Newton because the pickings were so slim, but I think Santorum was much better though I was outraged that he came out against Zimmerman without knowing the facts.
