Soon I can see where it’s just Shut-up and use full opsec. I also recommend protective camouflage for your home and “Stash”. Make it look like you’ve already been trashed by the Thugs. Or are to poor to have anything good for them to loot.

It seems like half the preppers out there want to scream the fact from the town square. Which is incredibly stupid for so many reasons too numerous to list.
Am I a prepper? What one of those nuts?!? I don't own as much as an extra can of soup and a BB Gun! (yep that's my story and I'm sticking too it!)

Seriously, I am beyond trying to explain to neighbors, relatives and friends about my concerns about potential hyperinflation from government spending, war with China, or what-have you.
What they should know:
1. I have nothing of interest to you in my house, around my house, or stored somewhere else in a safe area. I don’t have a loud generator that the whole block can hear.
2. I look like I can defend myself, but they are not sure exactly what my methods would be or what tools I can use.
3. They have no idea where I would go if “Shit Hits the Fan”.
4. I am a friendly, caring person, and a good neighbor, but I am not a pushover that you can just borrow stuff from.
5. You might know my phone number, but maybe I have another one you don’t know about.
6. I decided to leave FaceBook because I’m a little bit eccentric. I don’t do the Twitter.
7. When SHTF topics come up I have little to say and talk about (non-survivalist) gardening.

The left hates preppers more than they hate gun owners.
Gun owners merely prevent the left from subjugating the citizenry.
Preppers screw up the whole leftist eschatology.
Preppers can do just that....prepare, and don’t blab about your preparations to every Tom, Dick and Harry.
Stockpile what you need for your family, and be quiet about your plans. It’s better to have these supplies and not need them, then to need them and not have them.
Telling the world that you have a large collection of arms and ammunition, and substantial stash of food, has never been a good idea.

But the prepper died. She did not kill anyone.
More than that, anyone who dares to have food stored - no matter how much or little - extra water on hand, a generator, maybe some gold or cash source, for emergencies, like Sandy, or WTC, or whatever, will face the prospect of being termed a “prepper, survivalist, doomsdayer,” or whatever strikes the fancy of the moon-howling media.
And if such person is found to have cast a vote for Romney in 2012, watch out.
A man stole guns (which is illegal), shot his mother in the head four times (which is illegal), went to a school and shot his way in (which is illegal), killed children and adults (which is illegal), then shot himself in the head (which is suicide).
What to do to prevent it from happening again is just as simple as writing what happened. Either place an armed guard at every school, and/or allow teachers/administrators to obtain concealed carry permits. No more mass killings will happen.
There is nothing else to discuss – the reams of paper/internet space/TV time, taken up by this happening is all excess screaming. Preppers in every state are not to blame so don’t go there to blame them. Ah ha! It’s video games! Ah ha! It’s Hollywood. Ah ha! It’s shooting ranges! Ah ha! If one stores food, one will shoot people! Ah ha! He was highly intelligent and they kill people! Ah ha! He didn’t socialize well!
I repeat: A man stole guns, shot his way into a school, killed children and adults, then shot himself - HE DID IT, NO ONE ELSE.
Place an armed guard or concealed carry personnel in every school – NO MORE MASS KILLINGS.
Only of they allow themselves to be. Our side really needs to learn to speak out more. What better case to make for prepping than the recent Hurricane Sandy.
