NEWTOWN, Conn. (CNN) – Dick’s Sporting Goods, one of the largest sporting goods retailers in the world, says it has removed all guns from its store nearest to Newtown, Connecticut, and is suspending the sale of certain kinds of semi-automatic rifles from its chains nationwide.
The move was made out of respect for the victims and families of last week’s Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting “during this time of national mourning,” the store said in a statement Tuesday morning.
“We continue to extend our deepest sympathies to those affected by this terrible tragedy,” the statement said.
It was unclear how long the store will keep the suspension in place for the guns, known as ‘modern sporting rifles.’

Unless Dick’s removes ALL weapons from their inventory, this is just pandering. Bow and Arrow’s are deadly. Knives kill and do so in an excruciatingly painful manner. Heck, tent poles can be used as spears.
And pencils...are they selling any writing instruments?
Seriously, all conservatives need to boycott ALL businesses that jump on the liberal bandwagon. That includes Starbucks, Bed,Bath & Beyond, Arby’, Darden Restaurant Chain...just to name a few. Let ‘em survive on the business generated from their beloved liberal customers.
Mutilating others is illegal though.
I wonder if they will be putting up “no firearms” signs at their entrances next? This will hurt their business, but many on the left simply don’t care.
I keep seeing that others have heard that reported. I watched a deputy claiming that all shots came from the .223 and tha "the only shot fired" from any of the pistols was the one used on himself.
The reports are always so wildly off from the final version, too far off to just be explained by the oft cited inaccuracies of eye witnesses.
The Dick’s near me in MD stopped carrying guns and ammo last year. Sounds like the latest events have accelerated existing store policy.
EVERYTHING at Dicks is less expensive elsewhere.
This is just Dick’s trying to gain PR, suits with political agendas, or some other NON-sporting goods issue.
Also FOX and ALL the reporters are complete mental rejects when it comes to reporting correctly.
I know Academy isn’t. I talk with them about the latest and greatest. Good place to shop.

They had one h3ll of a sale on AR-15’s a couple of weeks ago. $700 complete. There was a line of people buying them when I went in to look. They are probably sold out now.
This is bunk. We don’t absolutely know whether the 223 was even registered to the mother. We only know from the ME that people were killed with 223 bullets.
Obama and/or Holder could have called to place the 223 as the culprit and told the ME to name it inhospitable remarks. Ditto for the prepper reports. This is the Administration that claims a video caused Benghazi. This Administration has been on record wanting to ban all guns while they have theirs. These are people who were directly involved in Ruby Ridge, Waco and Elian. These are the people who have let narco terrorists, AQ in Libya and Syria, Egypt,the MB, etc. to have weapons, MANPADS, and, apparently, chemical WMDs, but we’re supposed to be disarmed. This is the country that now teaches LEOs to empty their clips into people because of being afraid, of no knock assaults, of absolute submission, on pain of death.
Why should we believe anything they say?
There was a substitute teacher in the classroom where most of the children were killed. This could have been a case of a jilted lover. This could have been something far more sinister.
Maybe the weapon used in CT was bought at Dick’s??
Perhaps they should stop selling “semi-automatic” weapons, and only allow weapons that fire a single bullet, each time you pull the trigger.
The truth is we don’t know motive. We do know the event is being pushed into a direction that is explainable as alternate theories of the crime.
The LIBOR connection. The middle class, White community. Once again, a free fire ‘gun free’ zone.
