full title...Twelve little girls and eight little boys: Police name Connecticut massacre victims as it is revealed gunman shot each child up to 11 times in 'revenge' attack after fighting with teachers the day before
The manner of death for each of the victims was homicide, Carver said.
He added that two of the victims were shot at extremely close range, and each child was shot between three and 11 times.
Carver told reporters: 'I think everybody was hit more than once.'
Parents were not called in to identify their children. Rather, Carver's staff compared photos of the children given by the parents to the bodies.

Thanks, that makes sense.
Really almost none of the initial information has held here.
Did I hear this guy right??? All yesterdand and today we heard about the handguns being the weapons with the long gun found in the trunk of the car. Now this ME says that all the shots came from the long gun. What gives???
My son was 5 when he started kindergarten, but turned 6 in October. He would have been 6 at this point in the school year. It’s timing and cut-off dates. Seven-year-olds, though would be in 1st or 2nd grade, depending on birth date.
All reports I've read said the Bushmaster was in the trunk of the car and not used. Just two hand-guns. Is this a new revelation? Not saying you're wrong, just everything up to this morning said it was found in the trunk of his mom's car, which he drove to the school, after the shooting stopped.
I just got the coldest shiver I ever felt. The hair on my neck is still standing up.
This is beyond horrific.
When I first heard that there were only a few wounded and most were DOA, I thought that he must have used the handguns since a .223 is designed to wound and not kill (wounded soldiers require a lot of support, thus depleting the enemy’s ability to fight).
Now it makes sense - the .223 did not kill easily — it took 3-11 shots to kill each small child.
If the killer had used a shotgun or a handgun, it would have been one shot each.
In some odd way, he used the least lethal weapon he had access to. And at 30 rounds per clip, he was changing clips pretty often.
I am starting to think that we should have more aggressive registration of the mentally ill, not guns.

EXTRACTS:
MYTH: Guns are not a good deterrent to crime
FACT: Guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes a year or 6,849 every day.[120] Often the gun is never fired and no blood (including the criminals) is shed.
FACT: Every day 550 rapes, 1,100 murders, and 5,200 other violent crimes are prevented just by showing a gun. In less than 0.9% of these instances is the gun ever actually fired.[122]

MYTH: Citizens are too incompetent to use guns for protection
FACT: About 11% of police shootings kill an innocent person - about 2% of shootings by citizens kill an innocent person. The odds of a defensive gun user killing an innocent person are less than 1 in 26,000 [198] despite American citizens using guns to prevent crimes almost 2,500,000 times every year.

MYTH: Private ownership of guns is not effective in preventing crime
FACT: Every year, people in the United States use guns to defend themselves against criminals an estimated 2,500,000 times more than 6,500 people a day, or once every 13 seconds.[243] Of these instances, 15.7% of the people using firearms defensively stated that they “almost certainly” saved their lives by doing so. Firearms are used 60 times more often to protect lives than to take lives.
FACT: The number of times per year an American uses a firearm to deter a home invasion alone is 498,000.[244]
FACT: In 83.5% (2,087,500) of these successful gun defenses, the attacker either threatened or used force first, proving that guns are very well suited for self-defense.
FACT: The rate of defensive gun use is six times that of criminal gun use.[245]
FACT: Of the 2,500,000 times citizens use guns to defend themselves, 92% merely brandish their gun or fire a warning shot to scare off their attackers.
FACT: Less than 8% of the time does a citizen wound his or her attacker, and in less than one in a thousand instances is the attacker killed.[246]
FACT: In one local review of firearm homicide, more than 12% were civilian legal defensive homicides.[247]
FACT: For every accidental death (802), suicide (16,869) or homicide (11,348)[248] with a firearm (29,019), 13 lives (390,000)[249] are preserved through defensive use.
[243]
FACT: When using guns in self-defense, 91.1% of the time not a single shot is fired.[250]
FACT: After the implementation of Canada’s 1977 gun controls prohibiting handgun possession for protection, the breaking and entering crime rate rose 25%, surpassing the American rate.[251]

Exactly —
So it turns out they were first graders. Does it really matter?
Feeling snippy tonight?
Magazines. Clips are used in revolvers and old garands.
Ghoulish smiling and inappropriate replies?..what was with this guy?
Thank you. (I’ve only said “clips” on 4 threads and on Facebook... and NOW ya tells me!!! Where were ya??? LOL)
“I saw the coroners talk. He should never be allowed within 50 of a microphone again.”
I couldn’t agree more! I just caught a couple of minutes but that was more than enough! It seemed like the whole thing was a joke to him and he was getting his 15 minutes. Of course, I guess you have to be pretty whacked to be a coroner to begin with. I actually went out with an ME many years ago. First (and only) date we spent about an hour in his apartment with him showing me his scrapbook of gruesome murder photos. Seriously.
I feel the same way.
There were no tears..just the same dead eyes.
I don’t feel his commie/muzzie heart was moved at all.
He made his little speech because it was required.
The AR-15 was locked in the car's trunk.
He killed 20 children with handguns, a Glock and a Sig.
You will hear more and more about his rifle, but his rifle had nothing to do with this crime.
Thank God.
Duh.
They want to use this to ban ARs. Of course the story will change.
