I couldn’t agree more! I just caught a couple of minutes but that was more than enough! It seemed like the whole thing was a joke to him and he was getting his 15 minutes. Of course, I guess you have to be pretty whacked to be a coroner to begin with. I actually went out with an ME many years ago. First (and only) date we spent about an hour in his apartment with him showing me his scrapbook of gruesome murder photos. Seriously.
While I agree with the assessment of the ME’s portion of the press conference, I was wondering if this was his way of dealing with the enormity of doing autopsies on all the children.
Having to process a scene with so much carnage has to have an effect. I am not making excuses for the guy, I just know from my experience in law enforcement that humor is a common thing to keep emotions in check. Still, he shouldn’t have made the “jokes” at that time and in that company.
