Nancy Lanza legally bought and owned the guns used in the Connecticut school shooting on Friday afternoon, according to NBC News.
---
This finding makes sense considering Adam Lanza was not old enough to legally own a gun in his home state. NBC News reports that Connecticut residents must be 21 or older to purchase or carry a handgun. Adam Lanza, meanwhile, was just 20 years old. However, rifle owners in the state are not required to register their weapons.

If you have an 20-year-old unstable nutjob for a son, either don’t purchase deadly weapons, or keep them damn sure where he can’t get to them.
Maybe it’s time that the country did something about mental illness. It is now known that there is a link between the uptick in schizophrenia cases and teenage use of marijuana. So, what do we do, we legalize marijuana, and try to outlaw guns because we think that by out-lawing guns, we can keep the guns out of the hands of the schizos.
Let’s do a study on how many of the teenage killers were heavy marijuana users.
School killings in China
http://eprints.lse.ac.uk/32321/1/School%20killings%20in%20China%20(LSERO).pdf
“All six killings were carried out by middle-aged men using knives, hammers or cleavers.”
We’re not the only ones with problems. And it doesn’t require guns to have a problem.
If you look around the US....there’s probably 100k homes where some nutjob is in the house, and there are guns in the house. Unless you made up a rule where guns had to be stored in a special gun locker with a unique single key...that’s about the only safe way to allow the weapon to stay under such a roof. Course, the nutjob could easily break into the neighbor’s house....steal his one single rifle, and shoot a dozen people with it.
There might be some confusion since we allow the murder of babies in the womb.
I wonder if anyone tried to get help for this troubled guy, and if they ran into any difficulty doing that.
Mental health reform, not gun reform.
So it was either:
1. He killed her and stole her guns (illegal)
2. Mom did a straw purchase for son (illegal)
Yet if we banned guns, the crazy couldnt have obtained the gun or just used a bat, bomb, bow, or anything else to do his evil.
Or he could have used his older brother’s ID (which he apparently had) and bought the guns himself. Yes?
“..Yes, I think they count as people...Small people...”
Thank God this is still true in most people’s minds, at least for the born ones anyway. The children that aren’t born yet don’t count.
We need to have a designated person in authority in every school licensed to carry a firearm - similar to how they have the marshalls on the airplanes. Liberals are so stupid, they want to keep the children and teachers unprotected.
“Or he could have used his older brothers ID (which he apparently had) and bought the guns himself. Yes?”
No.
1. They are reporting the guns were registered to mom
2. The brother is a resident of NJ, not CT. This would have been caught during the NICS check with the FFL holder and the Feds.
You assume such an armed guard or guards wouldn’t have a TSA mentality. Ignorant leftist thugs embracing guns can lead to nothing good. I honestly think leftists project their own fears about themselves, when going on about restricting access to firearms. If they had one, they’d kill people willy-nilly. They abhor self control and discipline. They detest individual freedom to do anything but corrupt themselves morally.
WE 2nd Amendment defenders must use this as OPPORTUNITY to point out that (nearly) ALL of these mass killings take place in gun free zones, or gun banned areas.
Those who wish to get this type of attention, and thereby get notoriety and commit suicide, invariably choose such areas they know are safe for their dirty work. The remedy which would actually help is exactly the opposite of what the gun-grabbers and fear mongers trumpet incessantly - concealed carry in all of these areas! In this case, allow ALL weapon qualified teachers and school employees to carry, and encourage them to do so. Make federal handouts for education contingent on schools success in having employees who are willing to do so.
I have a Christmas Party today. I am certain this subject will come up. I will loudly repeat this.
My go to expert on this is John Lott, of More Guns, Less Crime. johnrlott.blogspot.com - He was interviewed by Mark Levin yesterday evening, and stated that only one mass killing in the last 30 or whatever years was NOT in a gun free or gun ban area. The Colorado theater shooter could have chosen 5 theaters closer to his home, but chose the theater that powerfully advertised no guns allowed.
Time to get back to common sense and make concealed carry both the law of the land, and the expected practice of law-abiding citizens.

Another possibility:
The Lanzas filed for divorce in 2008, four years ago.
Could the weapons have originally been purchased by the father?
And upon the divorce, transferred and re-registered to the mother?
I doubt she would have purchased the weapons _for the son_, knowing that he had problems. Just doesn’t sound logical for a mother trying to nurture a troubled son to do something like that.
Until new information comes out, Adam Lanza — though having had developmental problems (Asperger’s syndrome is mentioned) — does not seem to have exhibited behavior that was violent or particularly anti-social, at least while in school. Good article at the (I know, not your favorite news source) New York Times, which I discovered via Drudge:

Worth taking a few minutes to read.
From what I can see, this family was dysfunctional — two parents just having gone through a bitter divorce, brothers who don’t even speak. What were the parents doing and why were they not keeping an eye on the 20 year old kid with issues that day? How do people spend their time anymore?
Sick of all this incessant talk about guns. Let’s talk about our hurting families, our kids with developmental issues. Let’s talk about the dysfunctional ways youth spend their time now ...locked up staring at computers all day and gaming ...their minds are warping.
I for one am clamping down on my sons with these games. I’m ready to pitch it all out and kick their butts outside.
It’s not about guns. It’s about keeping guns out of the hands of unstable people.
I agree. It isn’t the guns. It’s all about keeping guns out o the hands of crazy people.
I can live with that.
All I know is that Democrat plan to make the Republicans scream UNCLE in fiscal cliff talks has just been thrown a curve ball by this.
...and believe me, the Democrats, as a whole, DO NOT want to talk gun control, AT ALL. They want the House back in 2014 and they KNOW they will not get it by supporting gun control. Not a chance.
Your point is spot on.
Guns are not the problem. Responsible people use guns responsibly. Keep guns out of the hands of crazy people.
And, I’ll go further. If someone steals a gun from you, and it wasn’t locked up ... or a child shot himself ... you do the time. There are penalties for leaving guns around for someone else to abuse or steal.
has anyone alleged he used a mini14? why would his mom have that gun?
