Prayers for those involved.
One of my friends just posted something about this on Face Book offering prayers for victims and “Hoping hoping all are ok and someone takes guns off the streets!!”
Needless t say, for the sake of a 35 year friendship - I am not responding to her posting.

Prayers up.
If a shooter is dead, I’ll bet a gun was used to stop him.

The more of this there is, the more of this there will be.
Obviously, this stuff is news, but sometimes I wish it was downplayed, so as not to stir up the other nuts.

OK, I’ll say it, at the risk of alienating our libertarian friends. This is a result of moral decay. TV, music, movies, internet, God removed from schools, all of it. We’ve always had guns, we’ve always had periods of economic turmoil, we’ve always had disputes. But we haven’t always had massacres on a regular basis ...

Channel 3 reporter says that at least 1 person was shot in the foot and has been transported to hospital.
They have no other reports of person(s) being shot, but say that other ambulance services have been responding and may or may not have taken anyone from the scene.

I don’t fear hijacked airplanes or dirty bombs.
As a parent, a Beslan scenario is what terrorizes me.
Teachers should be armed.

Newtown?
Isn’t this one of the places that had issues with the citizenry harrassing the volunteer power workers trying to restore their power after Sandy?

Note to all the Gun Control Fascists:
Schools are almost always “gun free zones”....they have strict rules against guns
For the sake of the children, please, Gun Control Fascists, don’t resort to Gun Control proselytizing. It did not work, here
I had to say before the GCFs go wild
Hope all the children are OK

Channel 3 reporter says local newspaper [Newtown Bee] says there are 'several' injuries.
Newtown Bee is reporting that a police officer carried one child, apparently seriously wounded, from the school.
Newtownbee.com:
State and Newtown police, ambulance, and emergency response personnel responded to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shortly after 9:30 am, Friday, following reports of a shooting. One child was carried from the school by a police officer, apparently seriously wounded. Other injuries are reported, and emergency personnel have set up triage facilities.
The other children in the school exited school under state police protection.
All of Newtown's schools are in lockdown, and the private schools in town have been notified of the alleged shooting.
Superintendent of Schools Janet Robinson said the schools were placed on lockdown Friday morning, "until we hear what is going on there."
Dr Robinson said it is best if parents do not try to call the district at this time, and the school district will release a message once further information is known.
The district has cancelled afternoon kidergarten in the district, and there will be no mid-day bus runs.
Per Channel 3 reporter, children were told to close their eyes as they passed by school office during their exit.

NBC-CT reports that the school principal is confirmed dead. Per one student, he/she saw some other students injured (shot?). Police are acting as if they are still looking for an active shooter.
Schools in Monroe (adjoining town/city) are on lockdown because of this incident.
One person — the shooter — is dead, per WNBC.
