State police are responding to a report of a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dickinson Drive, school officials said.

Police are reporting a number of injured parties. The nature of their injuries is not clear.

Shooter had to be buzzed into the school. School has a camera pointed at door and once school starts, the school is closed to visitors unless they are known.

My mom worked at an elementary school (as the school nurse) in Conn., and I know when I went to visit her, I had to get buzzed in and state who I was visiting, who I was (they didn’t know me), etc before getting in. And this was in 2005 before she retired, so they’ve had these policies for a long time.
