Susan Rice: Why I Withdrew
The Washington Post ^ | Thursday, December 13, 2012 | Amb. Susan Rice

Posted on 12/13/2012 6:06:14 PM PST by kristinn

On Thursday I asked that President Obama no longer consider me for the job of secretary of state. I made this decision because it is the right step for this country I love. I have never shied away from a fight for a cause I believe in. But, as it became clear that my potential nomination would spark an enduring partisan battle, I concluded that it would be wrong to allow this debate to continue distracting from urgent national priorities — creating jobs, growing our economy, addressing our deficit, reforming our immigration system and protecting our national security.

These are the issues that deserve our focus, not a controversy about me. On Sept. 16, when Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was unavailable after a grueling week, the White House asked me to appear on five Sunday talk shows to discuss a range of foreign policy issues: the protests against our diplomatic facilities around the world; the attack in Benghazi, Libya; and Iran’s nuclear program.

When discussing Benghazi, I relied on fully cleared, unclassified points provided by the intelligence community, which encapsulated their best current assessment. These unclassified points were consistent with the classified assessments I received as a senior policymaker. It would have been irresponsible for me to substitute any personal judgment for our government’s and wrong to reveal classified material. I made clear in each interview that the information I was providing was preliminary and that ongoing investigations would give us definitive answers. I have tremendous appreciation for our intelligence professionals, who work hard to provide their best assessments based on the information available. Long experience shows that our first accounts of terrorist attacks and other tragedies often evolve over time. The intelligence community did its job in good faith. And so did I.

If the White House didn't have a lot to hide Obama wouldn't have asked her to withdraw her name. At this point she knows too much about Benghazi which could be extracted under oath. Now maybe somebody will ask John Kerry, under oath, if he really went on secret missions to Cambodia.

Mmmmmmmm......let me extrapolate on your insightful near-perfect list:

Rev Jesse Jackson wants to date Tne Benghai Ricer---and is suggesting a threesome w/ the "convalescing" Jesse Jackson Jr---as a way to (cough) lift his son's (ahem) spirits.

Susan Rice drops out of Secy of State contention----and not a moment too soon.

She was adjusting her jock strap and had several Sunday TV talks lined-up.

Planned to tell the Nation that the WH's Benghazi talking points included the tidbit that Pearl Harbor was sparked by a Charlie Chan movie.

Well Susan played the fool for Obama’s secret Benghazi mission.... but whomever tapped her to become his face on the liberals Sunday worship hours, already knew that JFKerry wanted to be the next Secretary of State. AND old lord McCain, who sought to be on JFKerry’s presidential ticket in 2004, pops up to serve his best Senatorial friend in a time of need.

Wonder if we will ever find out whose idea it was to send Susan out on a fool's errand?

It is fun watching the Dems whine on TV yesterday and again this morning. “That poor brilliant minority woman thrown under the bus” (lib) Woman’s groups outraged. “How could Obama do this?”, “Those evil Republicans”

But the bigger picture is that Hillary has spent the four years totally protected from the type of setup jobs that they (she probably) sent Rice out on. Hillary is never anywhere to be found during a crisis, till its over and time to take credit (she fired the kill shot on Bin Laden I heard)

So the mill says its either Kerry or Hagal for SoS, and Hillary runs for POTUS in 2016. They are all part of the club. Should be a love in during Senate hearings.

It’s whitey’s fault that Susan Rice is a big fat liar and that her Marxist media homies did not have the total power to tell and protect her lies.

I’m just glad the liberals saw their weakness. Every time they go on a big lie campaign...they might get nailed by real journalists who are looking over their sholders.

Poor, poor Susan. She is the victim.....the double minority victim. The evil republicans have forced her to withdraw and make the ultimate sacrifice for her beloved Country.

Paging thread maintenance, we have a sarcasm spill over here.....
