In a letter to Majority Leader Harry Reid, 18 Democrat senators and senators-elect have asked for a delay in the implementation of the Obamacare medical device tax. Like most of the significant tax increases in Obamacare, the medical device tax is scheduled to take effect on Jan. 1, 2013, conveniently after the 2012 presidential election.
Each of the 18 Democrat signatories voted for or supported Obamacare in the first place. And now they want a sweetheart exemption from one of its most onerous provisions. Even in Washington DC, that shows a lot of gall.

What’s the matter? Don’t want those businesses in your hood to stop donating?
Drip, drip, drip, the un-ravelling of Obamacare continues. It’s about the potential loss of votes. Down the road, they’ll have to deal with the $750 fine soon to be foisted on young workers who have chosen to not have health insurance, who will have to fork it over or go get a policy.
Some thirty states will in the end not have a state exchange, and the federal exchange is not funded, nor will it be. This means there’s no mechanism to help the poor acquire their insurance policy. Death blow to Obamacare, and possibly to Obama’s popularity, if he pushes forward.
Why are these idiots asking for a delay?
The tax is onerous and stinking up the place.
Why arent they asking it be removed, made verboten, done away with.
Taxing the sick and handicapped , what a way to run a country.
Senator fill-in-the-blank -
You voted for a tax increase that would take effect after the election. Now that your candidate is re-elected you now want the tax implementation postponed? Why? Is it that you didn’t anticipate the impact of the tax before you voted for it? Or was it an imagined thriving economy planted in wishful projections, where a medical device tax would get lost in the high clover? Perhaps you’ve got a blind spot for unintended consequences? Or maybe it is this: You think that just enough of us are just stupid enough. Any which way, the Affordable Care Act’s foreseeable turmoil is just beginning to manifest itself. There’s only so much you’ll be able to walk back. So I suggest you keep your powder dry and wait until you see what else is in the bill. Maybe Nancy Pelosi can help you with that.
The House can put the repeal of that tax in a bill along with the repeal of the rest of that pile of crap. Tell Reid: “Here is what you asked for.”
Interesting... look at the states these idiots are from:
MN, NC, MN, WI, MD, MA, NY, NY, PA, NE, MI, NH, IL, CO, WA, MA, CO, IN.
Only one southern state, NC. And surprisingly, nobody from CA.

Note that Lizzy Warren signed it as Senator - Elect.
Seems to me they may be "confused" as to how this tax will affect their bottom line dividend.
"confused" as in, we did not read the bill before we passed it. We thought it only applied to "THEM", not us.
Maybe they just have not found the way to "Pass the Tax" on yet and need more time.
Where is it written that one senator has the authority to delay the implementation of new laws?
Where are the republicans?
I will NEVER vote for another republican.
Nope. They supported it. They can deal with the consequences they denied existed.
Good point.
