(INDIANAPOLIS) - Police shot and killed a burglar found hiding in a family’s basement on Indianapolis’ northeast side Monday night.

Officers were called to a home in the 3800 block of North Arlington Avenue just after 7 p.m.

Family members said they came home to find someone had broken into their home, so they called police and waited for officers to arrive.

When police searched the home, they said they found the burglar hiding in the basement.

Officers struggled with the suspect, and shots were fired, hitting the man.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not immediately released.

The police have better resources to confront a burglar in your home.

Police Shot And Kill Burglar(IN)

Wouldn't it be really cool if the people that write headlines ACTUALLY KEPT THE HEADLINE IN THE SAME CASE??!?

Police SHOOT AND KILL Burglar, or Police SHOT AND KILLED Burglar.

You see, as this headline is written, I can only conclude that the police shot a burglar (past tense) but then dragged his wounded body to the station where they are in the process of killing the burglar (present tense).

This sounds like a gross violation of the civil rights of the burglar. Either that, or illiterate morons are the norm at most centers of journalism. One or the other must be true.

A good outcome. One less maggot who thinks he has a right to walk in and take what is “rightfully” his.

That’s because spell check didn’t turn it red so it must be OK.

Today’s lesson: you burgle, you might die. Thanks for playing our game, but NO parting gifts.

I harbor no sympathy for burglars, but I am not quite ready to provide the popos with a pass. Shouldn't two male police officers be able to subdue the guy without having to shoot him?

Just because the perp was doing something wrong doesn't mean the police were doing everything right. They seem awfully eager to shoot things these days.

I won't shed any tears for the burglar in the meantime, but I'll wait for more info before making up my mind on this one.

I am not sure that a police dog would have done better on the tenses./S

The level of abject illiteracy in journalism is striking. Since journalists are mostly liberal and communist, and since Saul Alinsky teaches to make others live to their own standards, and also that mockery is the most effective weapon a man can wield, I have created the....

The Official "Dem Jernalists Shore Need Skoolin'..." Ping List.

Write a request to join with misspellings and improper grammar, and I shall add you or delete you, corresponding to your expressed desire.

This is not the only example of illiteracy in journalism. I roar with laughter and derision at some of the headlines, even on Fox News.

I get all confused while reading the news to Bryan as he eats his breakfast because of the misuse and misspelling of words.

We have to get the leftists out of our schools. There is no other solution.

Have you considered the possibility that the officers may have been attempting to wrestle a gun from the burglar? The burglar may have been much larger or doped up.

Per local media reports I’ve seen, they told the guy several times to put his hands up so they could observe him. Instead he went for his pocket. The only problem may have been that the cops weren’t fluent in ebonics so the guy may not have understood.

Hey Laz,
Glad to see I'm not the only one who grinds teeth over some of the grammar on FR.
