After making a big deal of publicly supporting the Affordable Care Act, Walmartthe nations largest private sector employeris joining the ranks of companies seeking to avoid their obligation to provide employees with health insurance as required by Obamacare.
It was not all that many years ago that Walmart announced, in response to harsh criticism over the low pay provided to Walmart associates, that the company would provide a healthcare benefit to its part-time, low earning employees. The uncharacteristically generous nod to worker needs was short lived as the company partially pulled back on the commitment in 2011, citing premium rate increases that Walmart deemed beyond their capacity to pay.
Now, Huffington Post is reporting that the party is over for many more existing Walmart employees, along with all employees hired after February 1, 2012 that the company can classify as part-time.
According to the 2013 Walmart Associates Benefit Bookthe manual for low-level Walmart employeespart-time workers who got their jobs during or after 2011 will now be subject to an Annual Benefits Eligibility Check each August.
Employees hired after Feb. 1, 2012, who fail to average the magic 30-hours per week requiring a company to provide a healthcare benefit, will lose their healthcare benefits on the following January. Part-time workers hired after Jan. 15, 2011, but before Feb. 1, 2012, will be able to hang onto their Walmart health care benefit if they work at least 24 hours a week.
Anyone hired before 2011 will not be cut off from the company provided health insurance.

Have you seen the unemployment figures? Do you really think it’s that easy to find a job in this market. Wake up.
I am living in the present. Reality is, it’s very tough to find a job out there. Look at the college grad employment rate, for a start.
Don’t give Hoefling a lot of credit for electing Obama or anyone else for that matter. His vote total wouldn’t have changed the outcome in any state. Example: <32,000 votes in CA, <1,000 votes in FL and so it goes.
“Have you seen the unemployment figures? Do you really think its that easy to find a job in this market. Wake up.”
There are no jobs because of people like you who have no freaking idea what they are talking about. You burn down the bakery then complain there is no bread.
Pelosi also said that if you are an Artist or Musician that does it to fulfill your creative side, you won’t have to worry about having Healthcare. You can live your dream.
I see no way we can reverse any of this thinking. It’s over.
OK wise guy, go look for a job and report back. Until then, you have just outed yourself by resorting to personal attacks, which means you’ve run out of facts.
Life was suppose to be tough not easy...
I would be interested to know that at any time in the history of this country has market forces (or any force) killed a Government Program.
I’m just worried it’s about to get a lot tougher for a lot of folks. Not, of course, for many at the gov’t trough - they’re living pretty high on the hog.
A lot of seniors are already seeing health costs soar (scripts, especially). Food inflation. Prepping at an all-time high. There are lots of signs that the numbers don’t look good for next year, work-wise or tax-wise.
My point is the gov’t seems bent on making it worse. If I were to speak bluntly - I think they are out to squash the middle class. Totalitarianism has a strong, long-held foothold in the third world. And the current crop of the US left seems determined to do the same here.
Tell your PR company or Walmart or whoever you work for that you earned your money this week with that Walmart manifesto you sent.
Also have a friend who went to a specialist. Walmart refused to pay and wrote in big red letters on the denial notice she was lying, All she did was go to a referred specialist. So much for health benefits. Walmart is known for this kind of thing. Blue Shield/Blue Cross is another one. An employee was on the Blue Shield group plan for many years of his company and not a high wage earner. No claims whatsoever. Been with company forever. Had a heart attack. Blue Cross paid a total of $7.95. That did get straightened out, however, and Blue Cross was dropped immediately.
Things don’t always appear as they really are.
“Until then, you have just outed yourself by resorting to personal attacks, which means youve run out of facts.”
Either you have no idea what a real personal attack is or you are using that as an excuse for having no intelligent response. Pretend to be insulted like Obama did when Romney brought up Bengazi. When you have no argument, whine that the other guy is being mean. Whats next, looking for spelling errors?
And for your information my wife who has been out of the workforce for 25 years, got a job at one of Walmart’s competitors just a month or 2 ago. There is already talk of promoting her to department manager.
Sounds like a personal attack to me. Don't see any facts there. Typical - all mouth, no facts.
Here’s a start for you.

Add to this a growing population and it’s evident jobs are harder to come by.
“Add to this a growing population and its evident jobs are harder to come by.”
For Heaven’s sake no one is disputing that jobs are hard to come by. The issue is WHY. The business community is under assault every day by ignorant bureacrats, union thugs and anti-business hippys who are regulating, taxing and bleeding them dry. Some people (whose initials shall go nameless) think that businesses are social programs whose goal is to distribute salary or benefits based on workers “needs”. And if the business doesnt give out a sufficient amount they are “cheating” the government. That’s just a delusional fantasy that cannot work. Businesses are not hiring because the cost of doing business is increasing and with Obamacase they dont know how much. Unions benefits (obtained by extortion) rise significantly every year, and govt regulations add more costs and busy work constantly. Then there are the know-nothings who attack successful businesses just because they are successful. Jobs are leaving the US because the business taxes are lower overseas, there are no unions to jack up costs and little regulation. In short industries that couldnt survive in the US environment can thrive. Its the reality and there is nothing that can be done to stop it other than changing the business environment in the US.
What you say is true but what I said is also true. Hoefling wouldn’t have cared if Obama were reelected. If he cared, he wouldn’t have done what he did. There were only two reasons for him to do it, either to satisfy ego or for the money.
Or, I simply don’t support politicians who don’t represent me.
So? Would you deny those who voted for me their right to vote for someone who actually represents what they believe?
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Everyone has the right to be stupid.
Well, I hope and pray that God helps you to find the courage to change enough to stop slurring folks for not letting your fear trump their conscience.
