(CNN) -- George Zimmerman, charged in the shooting death of a 17-year-old Florida boy, sued NBC Universal on Thursday for using "the oldest form of yellow journalism" by editing an audio tape of his 911 call to make him sound racist, the lawsuit said.
Zimmerman is seeking "damages in excess of the jurisdictional limit" in Seminole County Circuit Court in Florida, where the lawsuit is filed.
Zimmerman, who is Hispanic and is charged with second-degree murder, is accused of fatally shooting Trayvon Martin, who was African-American. The February incident has provoked national controversy.

And yes, you do have long term memory.
He’s definitely got quite a case.
Not that I would know, but I wonder if the New Black Panther Party has ANY assets at all anywhere? Not sure if they’re an actual organization or just a leaderless racial terror cell. It wouls seem like they would have to have some moron somewhere that claims to be the organizational part of the group maybe? I want them to be forced to hand deliver the payment to Zimmerman in dimes!
Sounds like a good start.
Plus $1.00 for good measure...
the infowarrior
Well, one of the ways they address the world is to gin up racial tensions. It helps them sell their silly rags.
Agreed.
Hmmmm? And how about the Martins? If he wins would they not try to bring a larger suit vs Zimmerman? Looks like all the victims can make $$$ on Trayvon.
How have the Martins been defamed? If Zimmerman wins, he is immune from lawsuit. That is the part of the "Stand Your Ground" law that the left hates the most.
AGain, would a registered republicans class action slander suit be remotely possible? thanks for listening everybody.
I am not a lawyer, but I certainly want to believe that it is possible. Not just to sue NBC, but the whole of mainstream journalism. See my #83. IMHO youl find it interesting.

Care to educate me why you think it's wrong?
I find it odd that Zimmerman filed a complaint against NBC, etal, because of editing the audio tape of his 911 call ... then in his complaint he edited the tape himself.
“f’ning _oons” ... or “f’ning punks” ... or “f’ning cold” ... whatever he said - he left that part out.
It isn't wrong....unless you are keying in on the "white" part and using it to incite a race war of minorities against Caucasians. The race baiters went down to Florida in order to stir up trouble and make the issue about race instead of one man allegedly attacking another and the second man allegedly defending himself under Stand Your Ground.
Hence Jesse Jackass being involved, 0bama appealing to the public that 'if he had a son it would look like Trayvon.'
The meme was Stand Your Ground was used by white people to justify killing minorities. This was actually brought up that a black man could not use Stand Your Ground to justify shooting a white person.
The story was initially reported that Zimmerman was white. As in white only....based on his name. When the MSM realized shortly after the story broke, they kept the "white" part but added the "Hispanic" part. They were also caught lightening George Zimmerman's skin tone in the pictures they showed of him. They also would only show pictures of GZ in his mug shots and pictures of Trayvon as a young boy.
They were trying to project the story that evil WHITE hispanic George Zimmerman tracked down poor innocent BLACK Trayvon Martin and picked a fight with him in order to murder Trayvon in cold blood.
Poor little Trayvon that was just on his way to his girlfriend's house after buying some tea and Skittles.....not gangsta thug Trayvon suspended from school for attacking a bus driver and in trouble for marijuana.
But now that the evidence is finally coming to light and lawsuits are coming about.....the MSM has dropped the "white" part of the equation and hoping everyone forgets their part in the set up.
Was that ever proved or is it still a rumor?
The changing of the audio was intentional and deliberate, with full knowledge and awareness. There is no excuse. Zim should own NBC when it’s over.
The left is opportunistic. They troll the news for events that they can blow up out of proportion and use for their purposes. This happened during the election campaign. They wanted to gin up a little more White Guilt to get their man reelected. Their man was fully aware of what was going on, and chimed in with his “looks like my son” thing.
The media knew what their role was - to pump up the story and turn it into a “White” against “Black” issue.
I hate it when the media says things like “Zimmerman, who is White” or “Martin, who was Black.”
What am I to understand by that? What is the assumption behind the words “White” and “Black?”
Obviously, it’s that “Whites hate Blacks and kill them out of pure hate, and never for self defense.”
I resent that assumption.
I will once again point out that when the First Amendment was written dueling was legal.
That provided a strong check on lying as some misty morn you could find yourself being legally shot at by the person you smeared.
The First Amendment just means that you can not be arrested and put in jail for saying stuff. Your fellow citizen on the other hand could demand satisfaction.
I don't think it will actually come out until GZ's trial when they try to show TM was a violent thug.
I think this was done for political purposes before the election. Like good socialists they don’t care who they throw under the bus, as long as they get the desired outcome. Notice how these guys are not referring to Zimmerman as a “white hispanic”.
