I’m curious to know who the “1” was who voted against it. A lone “lunatic”?

Ah, it helps to read the article:
The only no vote was cast by Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, who said in a statement that, not only should we not eliminate the word lunatic from federal law when the most pressing issue of the day is saving our country from bankruptcy, we should use the word to describe the people who want to continue with business as usual in Washington."
Great response.

Two years ago, Congress removed references in federal law to the term mental retardation....
Retards and lunatics...They were just getting a little self-concious with the terminology.

I imagine the one vote against removing the word lunatic was the only one who isn’t a lunatic
The other 398 votes were lunatics offended at being labled a lunatic.
Remember the latin root word of politic is “many” “blood sucking parasites”.
Lunatic also applies to the average politician. Luna = Moon-bat crazy. Tics = “blood sucking parasites”.
