PITTSBURGH (AP) A black man contends he was fired at the end of his 18-month probationary period as a state trooper for false claims that he didn't properly write reports, and sometimes used Ebonics in doing so, according to a federal lawsuit.
The federal lawsuit was filed Tuesday on behalf of William Peake, 29, of Sewickley, who graduated from the police academy in May 2009 and soon after was stationed at the Uniontown barracks, which his attorney contends employs nearly all white troopers.
Peake was required to sign a termination letter contending he was let go for a "lack of solid job knowledge and basic police skills" and other "officer/public safety concerns" not spelled out in that letter in November 2010. According to the lawsuit, the reasons for Peake's firing have "no substantial basis in fact, and are not worthy of belief."

I was once arrested and taken to jail over a minor traffic infraction, by a frustrated ebonics-speaking Kentucky state trooper, because I couldn’t understand what he was trying to tell me. It was a traumatic experience.
Lol. My grandmother once had a cleaning woman who would at times speak to me in the thickest of Southern Black. This was many years ago. Whenever my grandmother caught her she would say: Stella, speak English! Amazing how quickly Stella’s diction improved.
Says he was fired because he’s Black.
Was probably hired for the same exact reason. Minority quota hire.
We are witnessing the de-evolution of mankind here in the USA. The current generation cant reason critically, speak the language of business professionals and just wants to smoke weed and play video games.
And they want me to pay for it.
Anyone here want to make a bet on the outcome of this suit.?
Everything said and done in the case is irrelevant.
He WILL be hired back
He WILL get back pay
He WILL be passed up the ladder because no supervisor will want to go to court next time he sues.
I have seen all of this before. I can practically guarantee the results of this case.
Been there, Done that.
now you’re using terms beyond my level of comprehension :-)
