The US Senate will be voting Tuesday, December 4th on whether to ratify a United Nations treaty on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Beneath the surface of this important sounding effort, is a crafty attempt to bequeath more of our American sovereignty to the authority of the United Nations.
America has some of the most stringent protections for those who are disabled. This treaty supposedly makes it a more global effort to support the disabled. Proponents say if the US signs the treaty other nations would be more likely to improve their own efforts with the disabled.
But like the Affordable Care Act, there are numerous provisions buried in the legalese that make this treaty unworthy at best and scary at the worst. Americans would be required to register any child with disabilities. Certain choices regarding a child's care wouldn't necessarily remain under the parent's control. Not to mention the cost and new accountability to a global entity. Let's let Americans keep American laws.

Methinks Ms. Ethanol Ayotte may not be as conservative as we like.
Coburn too?
Jeez!
I’ve been saying for some time that Sarah should have backed Lamontagne for NH Senate instead of Ayotte...that ‘mama grizzly’ thing just bit her on the hindquarters.

Two semi-surprises and six well-known wastes of skin.
Just when does Dick Lugar retire from the senate and get the gold watch from Gyorgy?
Mr. niteowl77
When was the last time you saw Ayotte when she wasn’t standing between mccain and graham?
Coburn didn’t vote for it.
Agreed...It’s hard to believe even RINOs voted for this.
The enemies of freedom fell 6 votes short of ratifying this pile of dog crap.
Please pardon me for quibbling, but the correct term is "dog obama."
No. Not Coburn.
LOL!!!
I had crafted a more thoughtful reply, but I’ll just say this instead: I hate liberals.
Lugar goes January and it can’t come soon enough.
That should have been a clue...in addition; she is a New England 'Republican'.
I am so PO'd...!
The average American has no idea as to the shortcomings of this treaty. The Republicans should make every effort to school the public on why it was a bad treaty and try to short circuit all the bad press that result.

There's a real shocker. < /sarc>
John Barasso? The others are the usual suspects, but him? Very disappointing. I’m stunned Snow and Graham didn’t vote for it.
Oops. Spoke too soon. Snowe was one of the traitors.
Whew! However, they will try again next year!
