Boehner, GOP Leaders Purge Conservatives from Powerful Committees UPDATE: Boehner Scoffs
Brietbart ^ | Monday December 3, 2012 | Matthew Boyle

Posted on 12/03/2012 7:45:40 PM PST by Bigtigermike

House Speaker John Boehner and GOP leadership have removed several conservative House members from their respective powerful committee positions, Breitbart News has learned.

Effective next Congress, leadership pulled Kansas Republican Rep. Tim Huelskamp, Michigan Republican Rep. Justin Amash and Arizona Republican Rep. David Schweikert off committees from which they could exert conservative pressure on fiscal matters. Amash and Huelskamp were pulled from the Budget Committee and Schweikert from the Financial Services Committee.

Huelskamp, a freshman elected during the 2010 tea party wave, thinks the leadership move to pull him from the powerful committee is revenge for him standing up for conservatism. “It is little wonder why Congress has a 16 percent approval rating: Americans send principled representatives to change Washington and get punished in return,” Huelskamp said in a Monday night statement. “The GOP leadership might think they have silenced conservatives, but removing me and others from key committees only confirms our conservative convictions. This is clearly a vindictive move, and a sure sign that the GOP Establishment cannot handle disagreement."

Since there is no difference between the democrat party and the republican party, these guys should just switch parties. Then they could vote out Boehner.

Screw the GOP and the horse they rode in on.

any doubts about who the ‘enemies within’ are?

The Gop needs a good enema.

The Conservatives in the House should mobilize to remove this actor from his leadership position.

The next Speaker of the House will be chosen shortly. Why doesn't the whole conservative grass roots movement get behind an effort to replace Boner with Paul Ryan?

Agreed, but not sure how that ball gets rolling.

They are not going to do anything serious but go along to get along with the Dems.

I've come to the conclusion that total economic collapse is inevitable. On the plus side, Eastern Europe emerged rapidly from the ruins of communism. A quick collapse, with a default on the debt, could force a return to the economic "state of nature" --a market economy.

OTOH, the collapse could be blamed on "capitalism." That thought keeps me up at night.

Many conservatives are still connected to the umbilical cord of the GOP as far as money and access in and out of the corridors of Congress...it’s fear that’s keeping them in line somewhat. Not all of them of course but many

The collapse will be blamed on capitalism by the media and Democrat Party.. And a majority of those in the United States [I do not refer to obama voters as Americans] will believe them.

I'm banking on the fact that without Uncle Sugar around to feed them, they'll starve off.

"I learned right here on FR that Boner et al would be the guys that would hold Myth's feet to the fire."

I think you would be very hard pressed to find even a few, if any freepers, that would not want to see Boner replaced as Speaker.

As far as the "et al" There are some in the party who are conservative, that are not lock step with the establishment, that is what this article is about.

The blubbering Mister Boehner (who, don't forget, already gave the Dems 500 billion in defense cuts ) should change his name to...

...Arlen.

I agree with you.

The GOP is destined to be a declining party and will lose the next presidential election.

I’m convinced they are more concerned with their chairs and committees than they are at saving this country.++

Mark mentioned this on tonight’s show. Boenher, Cantor and the other guy - don’t know his name - but he’s third in command - need to be primaried. Guess ole Bonehead wants to lose control of the House again??? Sounds like it -he’s such a useless tool.

Yes, Republians in the DC bubble who think they haven’t been liberal enough always win elections, right? Move government out of DC, do everything by teleconferencing from their home constituencies. Keep people out of the bubble.

“I learned right here on FR that Boner et al would be the guys that would hold Myth’s feet to the fire. They won’t even stand up to 0.”

Boehner and others see the low GOP turnout this year as an indication that the GOP base is not as anti-Obama as they previously thought.

You can expect the house to start rubber stamping the Obama agenda from now on. The tea party is dead and may not recover.

This is what the people who didn’t vote will get for their ‘principled stand’. They have turned the country over to the socialists. If you think things couldn’t possibly get any worse, just wait.
