BOEHNER: I Looked At Geithner And I Said, 'You Can't Be Serious?'

House Speaker John Boehner told host Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday" that President Barack Obama is "not being serious" about proposing a deal to avert the so-called "fiscal cliff," slamming the president and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner's initial offer.

"It was not a serious offer," Boehner said. "I looked at [Geithner] and I said, 'You can't be serious?'

"You know, we've got several weeks between Election Day and the end of the year. And three of those weeks have been wasted with this nonsense."

RE :”History(the only thing that matters here) proves that Boehner will cave.”

I go further than that.
He already decided to cave.
His comments yesterday to Wallace were designed to tell his House troops :
Look, I am with you. I am fighting the best I can” before he tells them that they must swallow that Pelosi crap sandwich again.

I just cant fake surprise next month when this has played out over and over again.

I can just hear Obama whine 2 years from now, when our debt is 20-22 TRILLION..

” Hey, this was agreed to by Democrats & Republicans alike! Don’t blame ME! “

(End of Republican Party regarding POTUS)

Well after he gets taxes to go up on ‘the rich’ then he wont have much of an argument on that anymore. Republicans can play thre O game and blame everything on those tax increases.
But unfortunately that will be too late to hurt O because he was already re-elected.

That is why he strategically (and got Pelosi, and some Senate Dems) caved on this exactly two years ago (Dec 2010) to the last congress, techically caved on tax cuts to the 2010 Senate minority filibuster. So he could run his re-election campaign on ‘the rich caused the deficits’, and it worked for him. (I saw this coming a mile away.)

The problem with such huge deficits is that if a R does take the WH in 2016/2017 then he will be trapped by the massive debt and will be advised that he must raise taxes.... well remember 1990 ???? You think Republicans are shooting each other now?

I think is why congressional Republicans are in a fret about it.

He’s the most prominent Republican spelunker we’ve had as Speaker of the House. He is very emotional though. I’ll give him that.

The Republicans in D.C. had all of 4 years to EXPLODE IN PUBLIC over NUMEROUS Obama atrocities, but instead hid in their offices.

1) They could have stopped SCOTUS nominations by REVOLTING,and exposing both as Marxist FANATICS but they caved.

2) They could have stopped Obamacare, by REVOLTING IN PUBLIC, but they instead made nary a wimper.

ROMNEY NEEDED TO EXPOSE OBAMA BUT DIDN’T EVEN TRY.

Who took the fight to Obama over the last 4 years in D.C.?

The only names that come to mind are..

1) House: Issa

2) Senate: DeMint

And NOBODY backed them up, other than lip service.

Boehner set us up for failure regarding negotiations 2 years ago, and he will complete the castration shortly. Good luck all.

WOW, talk about negative vibes :)

Did you see our old *friend* was calling me 'negative' on that unrelated thread today??

He is the same one who on Nov 2 posted that Romney was going to win big and take back the Senate.

Is there any use for being so wrong all the time?

Does the compass that points everywhere but North lead to success?

Sorry bout that. I believe everything I posted. We could have run Obama out of town, DESPITE the MSM if we had relentlessly fought back, but representatives in (D.C.) did next to nothing. Americans are busy working and supporting families, and we can’t do Tea Party protests in D.C. very often. THAT is what we pay handsomely for our D.C. representatives to do. They took our money, and hid in the closet for 4 years. What should I feel positive about?

Not matter what Boehner agrees to the potus will respond by raising the bar.

Obamski wants a train wreck in 2013/14 that he can blame, through the complicit media, on GOP intransigence on "taxing the rich".

Obamski's eyes are on November, 2014. He wants two years with a liberal Senate, SCOTUS and House. He has two out of three. Once he gets all three he will have two years without concern for re-election, to make his first two years look like the Reagan Revolution.

This is his goal and his strategy to get there is to force the GOP to "stand firm on the line in the sand" of no tax increase.

The kids in the GOP think that they are being principled but they are being played.

They won the WH on the "the GOP protects the 2% and hates the 47" strategy. The dopes in the GOP not only don't know how to defend against it, they don't even see it. I coach football. Rule number one...if your offense is working keep running the same plays.

I say give him what he wants now on taxes (except the debt ceiling control). It will suck but it will save the House and ultimately what is left of this country.

One theory is that since O has already won reelection, he could actually work with Rs to reform entitlements, without fear of leftist voter retaliation. Unfortunately, every time O says he is cutting spending it ends up being some kind of trick that costs even more to the bottom line. And the GOP has some sleazy budget tricks of its own.

Except that Obama wants to destroy our economy.

RE :”One theory is that since O has already won reelection, he could actually work with Rs to reform entitlements, without fear of leftist voter retaliation”

HA-HA, I think a few weeks ago I said that it could be a possibility in the next four years anyway, but I certainly was not predicting that he would and it is not lookin that way right now in the short term.

I would say that the lib Dem base (in both houses too) is telling him :
We won. We beat them. No more deals(as in 2010). It is now time to stick it to them and make them pay. And no touchin entitlements. Stick it to the rich. Humiliate the House Rs.

So O will give them their Republican blood (tax increases) first. Then we will see where he goes from there.

Here's my original point : Do we really want O to look successful at something like this like he looked to voters with Bin Laden? Sure Bin is dead but now we got four more years of O.

Obama wants to raise taxes, and he is demanding that certain taxes will go up.

Now it is certainly a possibility that these taxes could result in a slower economy, or maybe something else will slow it down anyway looking like the taxes, so he demands a stimulus at the same time to pump the economy short term. He will just spend that new tax money. He wants no short term deficit reduction. He lied about that folks *shocked*

Now entitlements? How does he sell that to te Pelosi crew? They will tell him “We won”, so raise more taxes.

Lets face it. We aren’t going to get a deal from the Dems. Any agreement made will not be honored. When middle America sees themselves paying thousands more in taxes, we can hang it on Obama.

You mean “Pass tax increases now for spending cuts later, the cuts in a later bill” ????

If Rs go for that then they are likely working for Obama. No one is that stupid.

Maybe O really believes that massive govt spending is good for the economy, or at least part of him believes that.

Reagan had the Nixon curse to overcome in 1980, but the voters were at least smart enough to throw out Carter. I have doubts that Reagan would have won with the GWB curse and 2012 voters.
