NEW ORLEANS - The Quicky's convenience store in Mid-City takes its parking lot rules seriously. Very seriously.
About 4 p.m. Friday, New Orleans paramedics rushed inside the store for a man with a life-threatening medical issue.
They worked on the patient with chest pain, put him inside the vehicle, then started to speed off.
The paramedics heard a loud noise, and the vehicle came to a screeching halt, according to Jeb Tate, spokesman for New Orleans Emergency Medical Services.
The medics stepped out and found a boot on their ambulance.
Convenience store employees allegedly put a restrictive parking boot on the ambulance. And now it was stuck.
The paramedics were perplexed.
Tate said the ambulance had its emergency lights on the whole time.
Store employees didnt want to talk about it. They declined requests for comment.
Apparently one of the employees took the boot off. The tire was left flat.
And so the paramedics and the man with the emergency waited.
We actually had to delay that patient's care by calling another ambulance out here to come transport this patient, Tate said.
Signs on the convenience store make clear that parking is for customers only. The signs state: If you leave the property for any reason your vehicle will be booted.
But the paramedics apparently were there the whole time tending to a man with chest pains.
We called the telephone number on the sign, for the Boot Man.
A convenience store employee picked up, then hung up.
Tate, the EMS spokesman, said the agency has never had an incident like this before.
"As long as we have our lights on, we park where it is safe to park, he added.
Funny how I *knew*, even before my mind registered the WWL reference as the source, that this had occurred in New Orleans.
Next time the emergency might be in the convenience store. What then?
It was, it was!
Right across the street from the Orleans Parish Criminal courthouse-— ‘nuff said. That and the “face blocking” photo of a ultra-long nailed “do” black female and the picture is rounded out.
The boot man gives a “kick” to the employee and/or the owner, for being called to boot a “violator”, no doubt.
This takes some real simple mind. Would be of minor interest to know if the “patient” was a problem customer....etc.
Per Ayn Rand...check your premises. The employee gets the boot for leaving his brain unattended
I always advise posters to read the article before making a comment. Embarrassment and the appearance of complete stupidity can be thereby avoided.
In this case, the article makes it clear that the emergency was inside the convenience store and that the paramedics were tending to the patient inside the store while their ambulance, with emergency lights flashing, was booted in the parking lot.
Hoodat?
People that stupid make me long for the days when we used to institutionalize idiots like that. Now we give them iPhones, EBT cards, and pay taxes to the {expletives} that buy their votes.
It's just hard to imagine what thought process led this employee to immobilize the ambulance that was attending to someone in his/her own place of employment. That is weapons-grade stupidity.
Alright, so it’s Kaneesha cashier and she can count to nine. Still toast.
The manager or owner and the employee who booted the ambulance should have been arrested. The boot should have been taken by the police and impounded. The city should bill the store for extra time wasted dealing with booted ambulance. They should also also bill the store for any repairs needed to the ambulance.
You can’t hide it, lady. We can tell by your hands you’re a Chocolate City Daughter of Obama.
The perp should be arrested for intential interference of public services.
Along with the manager on duty. I’m sure there are lots of charges that could be brought.

Material for your schtick ping!!
I would also say some Ted Poe justice would be in order. Once convicted, the manager and/or clerk needs to be posted at a high traffic corner carrying a sign saying “I am an idiot. I booted a city ambulance.”
Can you imagine being the patient in the ambulance. “Sorry Sir but someone booted our Ambulance” response “WTF”.
