California was once the envy of everyone. But this promised land is now being controlled by a super-majority of leftists, and the liberal, pro-union Democrats have only one answer to California's woes: to raise taxes. With that in mind, American Thinker asked California representatives if, after the 2012 election, Republicans become an archaic party in this state.
There are many reasons why California Republicans took such a shellacking. Congressman Tom McClintock (R-CA) emphasizes the key word: "communication. The Democrats had monopoly control over the message. Republicans need to pull up their socks and wipe their noses to get back into the game."
Congressman Brian Bilbray (R-CA) recently lost his re-election bid to what he calls "the political perfect storm." There was Proposition 30, which will raise income taxes on the wealthiest Californian citizens and temporarily increase the sales tax by a quarter of one percent to supposedly fund schools, colleges, and universities.
The congressman argues, "Governor Jerry Brown and the Democrats worked college campuses, getting students to turn out to vote so their tuition would be kept down.
Students were recruited and registered, unions turned out in numbers, and Obama, an incumbent president, was on the ballot. This was the largest turnout in history for this state."
There was also Proposition 32, which would have banned union contributions to state and local candidates.
Unions made sure they turned out the vote to kill this initiative, since they did not want to lose the ability to withhold money from worker paychecks for political spending. The unions in California engage in vote-harvesting, where they register people who would not normally have voted on their own and get them to vote, many times by absentee ballots.
What should Republicans do to restore the party to viability?

Organize from the bottom up, what else? They have a base in the churches and other civic organizations which they have neglected.
A lot of people living there don’t see what we see being outside of the fishbowl looking in. I know, having seen the cognitive disconnect up close and personal.
I really think the only thing that would make Californians see the light is a total social collapse. This might just happen if the Federal Reserve loses control and interest rates start to rise. The Federal government will be unable to pay its bills and will have to default. EBT cards everywhere will stop working. Riots and chaose will ensue. Afterwards, I’m thinking the survivors rebuilding from the ruins wouldn’t have a lot of tolerance for liberal ideas.
Kalipornia is a lost cause.
It’s on an unsustainable trajectory that is starting to go into nose-dive mode.
The simple truth is California is a piker compared to the federal government on a unsustainable trajectory nose-dive.
One needs to look no farther than this article to see how the the GOP Establishment is hell-bent on destroying genuine conservatives.
In the article, “frustrated” Congressman Bilbray blames genuine conservatives for nominating so-called unelectable candidates Sharon Angle and Todd Akin.
Had the GOP Establishment supported genuine conservatives instead of sandbagging them, there might have been hope for the Republican party. Now, it is time for the party to be destroyed and for a new party, a genuine conservative party, to take its place.
In California? LOL!
Umm, maybe pray for an earthquake that dumps the concentrated Democrat parasite nests ("cities") into the sea?
Ban unions in government, require residents and others who get on the dole to lose status since taking care of themselves is required to be here and require an ID to vote.
This electorate is bought and paid for.
I saw some government union types already getting petitions signed to get the people to pay more to fund government union retirements in the next election. It’s diabolical!

RINO File.
As will the State government.
Historically, debts to foreign creditors have been peacefully satisfied by a transfer of territory to the foreign nation.
I wonder if the Californians would be granted Chinese citizenship?
Angle was unelectable, her prior record of losing races demonstrated as such. Akin, however, was very electable... until he said something unbelievably stupid and then was followed by Mourdock in IN. If these candidates don’t have enough common sense to know what to say and what not to say in public, no amount of support from Conservatives is going to overcome that on Election Day.
I don’t think Red China would want the free-spending and parasitic Stalinist moonbats in CA. The land and property, yes, not the people.
WE’RE NUMBER ONE! WE’RE NUMBER ONE!

China, internally, has the ability and willingness to "reason" with people they don't want or don't like.
Are you saying that postcards from the country club doesn’t work? :)
California will be deemed too big to fail—and Obama will bail them out. Then New York, New Jersey, Illinois, and Michigan. That will bankrupt the rest of us and Obama will have achieved his ultimate goal.
