Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said Wednesday that House Republicans should stop negotiating with President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats on the fiscal cliff, saying that by doing so, they give Obama all of the leverage in the talks.
One of the things I would say to House Republicans is to get a grip, Gingrich said in a speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif.
They are the majority. Theyre not the minority, he said, enunciating the words as if explaining the concept to someone who did not understand it. They dont need to cave in to Obama; they dont need to form a Surrender Caucus.
So my number one bit of advice to the congressional Republicans is simple: Back out of of all of this negotiating with Obama. The president is overwhelmingly dominant in the news media. You start setting up the definition of success finding an agreement with Obama, you just gave Obama the ability to say to you, Not good enough, Gingrich said.

They should start negotiating out in public first - put out what they are willing to do on revenues and SPENDING CUTS right out in the open.

Does Newt think the republican leadership (or anyone else) is going to listen to him?
There’s simply no point in negotiating with the democrats these days. The days of negotiating acceptable deals with the democrats are decades behind us now.
For MY 2 cents - the Soc. Security Disability leaches that have been added to the system when they ran out of Unemployment funds are draining the Soc. Sec. fund even faster. That is a WELFARE set up. Am I right that those leaches (cheaters - not the truly disabled) get their money out of the regular Soc. Security fund money?
Sick of this. And remember if they take EVERY penny the rich make - it won't be anything but a drop in the bucket. Remind your Rep that, too. Tell them to grow a backbone. Dump Boo Hoo Boehner while your at it.
NEWT IS RIGHT!
At least he’s saying it. And he’s completely right: they have the majority, but they’re acting like whipped puppies.
Doing nothing might be better than any “deal” the GOP is going to get!
Obama wants a trophy just for showing up, again.

Deny Obama a Participation Trophy
Newt is saying the Donks own it. So let them keep it.
I just can’t figure out why they are afraid to stand up to Obama.
Yeah, it’s not as if the people gave the GOP a mandate to control the purse strings.
This is basically what Rush is talking about right now.
I think Gingrich is the best GOP strategist we have. They should listen to him.
Is this the same Newt that was criticizing Romney for his
“gifts” comments ?
Newt tried this tactic with Clinton and got burned bad.
Rush is parroting Newt.
