The best thing the Republicans could do right now is to give Obama everything that he wants. Those of us who think, rather than feel, understand that Obamas course will end up with the United States going bankrupt, because there isnt enough money on the planet, much less the US, to pay for all the goodies the Democrats want to bestow on their favored constituents.
Just to give you an example of how hopeless the situation is, the combined net worth of the Forbes list of Americas 400 wealthiest people is just over $1.7 trillion. So if you confiscate 100% of that wealth you would just have enough money to cover this years federal budget deficit and next year you would have to confiscate the combined wealth of tens of thousands more Americans to cover next years deficit.
Clearly, raising taxes on The Rich will not even come close to achieving its stated purpose, namely reducing the deficit.
And while Republican politicians are posturing liked testosterone crazed Sumo Wrestlers about making sure entitlements are reduced if they agree to tax increases, the truth is that Republicans, who are currently consumed with self-loathing, will cave on tax increases without spending cuts.
Best thing they could do is to just rubber stamp everything that Obama and the Dems are demanding because the sooner all their ambitious demands are met; the sooner the country will implode.
And implosion is exactly what America needs in order to find its fiscal way. Drug addicts, alcoholics, recovery, hitting rock-bottom
For drug addicts or alcoholics to have even the slightest chance at recovery, whats needed is to hit rock-bottom, to experience that searing realization that the wall of oblivion is about to collide full force with their nose, to totally scrape bottom and realize thats death staring

I agree with you that a deflationary depression and social chaos are on the way. While Obama might be much worse than a Lenist/Marxist, he does understand from them that revolution and chaos are manageable. Results in Russia, China, Cuba, Vietnam, etc., prove them to be right. The right place at the right time with the right forms of power do make a dictatorship possible.
I never liked the spiking gold price as an investment unless it was the metal itself. (And, even with the metal, what goes up quickly can come down quickly.) Gold on paper is still paper. Shares of anything are useless. I tend to agree with Pearl Buck’s Wang Lung that land is real wealth. With it a man can sustain himself and his family. Some of the old timers in our church speak of the depression, and emphasize that farm families were best off because, if nothing else, they always had food. So, land, some arable and some wooded, makes it possible for a family to live. (IF they will work.)
Obama’s gambit is to throw the nation into chaos to see what can be gained from it.
Some have pointed out that ammo should be on the list of real wealth. I agree. I had some chili the other day made from the King’s deer. Tasty. And ammo has other uses.
My sense, sister, is that your 401k is probably worth at least double in middle american rather than Massachusetts or anyplace else in the northeast. Glen Beck is urging people to move to Texas. He has a point.
Obama seems to me to be punishment to America for past various “sins” or crimes..
Not punishment by God but punishment for lazyness and lascivious behaviour “chickens coming home to roost”..
Thank you so much for sharing your insights, dearest sister in Christ!
You being a Texan, what do you think of Beck’s call for folks to move to Texas?
I deeply love my home state, Massachusetts. But increasingly, it is misery to live here, because the culture is so corrupt. It has to be corrupt otherwise, how can one explain that madwoman, Elizabeth Warren's elevation to the Senate?
Dear brother in Christ, I've flirted with the idea of moving out of state. I was thinking along the lines of Texas or South Carolina. But the fact is, while my husband's and my elderly parents are still living, we won't be moving anywhere.
So I'm just going to have to tough it out here, and hope I don't completely lose my sanity in the process. (It is so difficult to live in a culture of lies.)
Thank you so very much for writing, dear xzins!
It sounds like it’s gonna have to be a “victory garden” in your back yard.
What about a “victory cow?” They’re probably frowned on, aren’t they?
:>)
Yeah "Never let a good crisis go to waste."
FWIW, I totally agree with the idea that Republicans should just walk away from the "negotiations." There are no negotiations to be had, from 0bama's perspective: He is demanding total surrender.
He thinks he has a "mandate," because "elections have consequences." Okay, let him OWN his mandate; let the (clueless!!!) people see what they actually voted for.
The Republicans do not have the political capital to stop him. So they shouldn't even try. They should just step away from the table....
Thank you so much, dear brother in Christ, for your outstanding analysis!
I disagree.
We are failing because both parties have been failing.
We are failing from the dem party, because the dem party wants to raise labor prices.
We are failing from the GOP party because the GOP wants to send our jobs overseas, hurting all Americans.
We need a new party.
LOL!!! You bet, since I'm not zoned for "victory cows" where I live.
Unfortunately. A cow and some chickens might be good things to have, in the coming storm. (Sigh. If I had them, I'd probably have to defend them against looters, if things get as bad as I fear they may.)
Almost and EGGSACKLEY ... you forgot to mention the agenda 21 population reduction built into the obamaroid’s agenda. Holder’s people will not fair well in the murderous climate following a collapse of the economy.
The liberals would be impressed if you claimed the cow was: (1) a rescue from a meat-packing plant, and (2) an environmentally friendly grass clipper.
The chicken could be: (1) ditto rescue, (2) an organic insect remover
Whaddayathink? :>)
Actually, I'd prefer a goat to a cow for "environmentally friendly grass clipper." Plus with any luck at all, maybe a goat could help me with the poison ivy problem that is proliferating along the margins of my property.
But it's all a pipe dream... unless I move to new digs in a more rural setting! Where I live now, I'm not zoned for farm animals of any description. Unfortunately. :^)
Pork may not be too bad then. At least you could feed the looters to the hogs.
Does Massachusetts still have rural settings? Last time I drove through a couple decades ago, it seemed to be all cities, towns, and traffic circles. Maybe Vermont is still green.
When financial collapse comes, it will rush upon US in steps/waves. One wave will include corrupt politicians trying to plug fiscal holes by granting vast tracts of America and raw materials to our creditors, in exchange for continued borrowing to bail the in-rushing waters. As the economy dies, so dies the trucking of supplies which maintain the vast city dweller sites will cease to function on commerce ... companies do not produce goods when there are no buyers, and truckers do not drive when they will not get paid and cannot depend upon fuel for their trips and returns.
Cities and their suburbs will indeed become vast killing fields and the most ruthless will be the survivors who will gather enough fuel to make raids into the countrysides, because there is nothing restraining the evil which will be driving their ruthlessness. [I pity the Mormon families who will be targeted for extinction so their supplies can be taken. ... And make no mistake, it will come to that when the cities become killing fields and supplies can be 'reaped' from the burbs.]
The military still here will be commandeered to try and establish order in the cities, but that will fail quickly when bellies of takers are empty and truck convoys are raided. In short, the cluelessness of the democrap demons and republicants will turn a planned controlled collapse into a plunged into utter chaos. While we can still try to work the political system with a new party and political revolution, we must try it.
What accompanies the end of current democrat rule without opposition, with the totally evil democrats in power and republicants going along to avoid media scoldings, is chaos that will make the great depression look like an interlude of minor shortage. Too many residents of America have no respect for rule of law and have been 'farmed' to be dependents and emoters. When chaos comes, those will be in need of forceful 'reply'.
Allowing the evil sonofabitch and his henchghouls in the White Hut to have his way is a quick and final path to the end of America, even though the democrats believe it merely leads to their greater empowerment. Think along lines of how the democrats have used the slaughter of tens of millions as an empowerment scheme for their political advantage ... democrats never look at the 50,000,000 plus they have caused to be slaughtered, they see only how they have garnered political power with the issues so long as the 'playing field' remains open. When the end of the Republic comes, the 'end of a playing field' is not even in the devilish democrats' calculations, but it is the inevitable result of what they are trying to accomplish with a false notion of what it does for them. ... And I won't even address the world-wide evil that shall accompany the collapse of America. Folks would not believe me because the normalcy bias would prevent their entertaining such notions! Such is the world the spirit anti-christ exploits as foretold in The Bible.
Outside the I-495 Belt and aside from the major cities outside that (i.e. Worcester; Springfield; etc.), the rest of the state is quite rural. I live up near the NH border and I am surrounded by uncountable acres of pristine woodlands and farms. In fact, I was out for a snowy hike with my dog this morning along the Nashua river in the Harry Rich forest in Dunstable where deer hunting is going on in earnest.
If you ever have the occasion to fly out of Logan Airport headed to a westbound destination, look out your window and you will be amazed how quickly everything turns green once you clear the city and the suburbs. Away from the coastline and aside from a few cities, all of New England is pretty much a vast forest.
Why???
Our two major political parties have already abjectly failed. Why do you think a new party could succeed, in what looks very like a post-political world?
I mean, when you have chaos in the streets; when you have massive theft of citizens' private property and nobody so much as gives a peep about it; when the gangsta "Chicago Way" has utterly infiltrated the institutions of government how can you reasonably believe a "new party" is any kind of answer when it is the culture itself that has become utterly corrupt?
The political parties, at bottom, are the reflection of the moral core of the people. On that score, Tip O'Neill was the last honest Democrat, and Ronald Reagan the last honest Republican. Both men had principles they were willing to defend. But today, what person of either party defends any principle whatsoever beyond the burning need to be reelected to office? (At great taxpayer expense.)
Do I think a new "third party" would be beneficial, or effective in articulating and securing the well-being of American citizens? Under the conditions of the sheer moral collapse of our society, I very strongly doubt it.
If the people are disordered, if they are "bad," do not expect the parties they belong to, or the governments they elect to be any better than they are.
So, meanwhile, I highly recommend the GOP walk away from "negotiations" with the President. He will only coopt them into sharing blame for the policy failures that he is (deliberately) creating. I say: Let him and his party clearly OWN IT ALL, so the people who voted for him finally understand what they voted for. Maybe this is the only way they can learn anything new, i.e., from the impending total melt-down of our economic system, bound to create incalculable suffering for themselves.
BTW, FWIW, I take this "post-political era" stuff seriously. The crux shifts to an existential, not political, gravitas.
I realized this back in the summer of 2010, which led me to resign from the Republican party, and change my voter registration from GOP to Unenrolled (in Massachusetts, that means Independent).
I am a constitutional, economic, and social conservative. NO party protects these interests of mine, these days. Nobody cares about "principles" anymore. It's every man for himself, under this "divide-and-conquer" president....
I do not have any reason to believe that a "new" party would have any impact whatsoever on the future well-being of our constitutional Republic.
IF, that is, it is true that we are indeed living in a post-political world as Bill Whittle (among others) has suggested.
Our constitutional Republic has been utterly inverted: We the People now work full-time for the government, not the other way around. We are virtual slaves in our own country. Does anybody notice? Does anybody really care, so long as he continues to get his freebies at somebody else's expense?
It's all a Big Lie and, like any Big Lie, is doomed to fail. There will be many, many victims.
So, I recommend that Speaker Boehner call for a vote of 0Bama's "package of doom," with instructions to Republicans members only to vote PRESENT themselves. Ditto in the Senate. "We're" going to lose this fight anyway; so just let Captain Zero and his cohorts unequivocally "own" this crap.
Experience is the best teacher. Lots of us are going to have to learn the Truth the hard way.
Sorry to disagree with you, Cringing Negativism Network; but I can't do otherwise, based on direct knowledge and experience, not to mention the lessons of human history, going back millennia.
Thank you so much for writing!
LOL!!! Yes, indeedy! I understand pigs aren't terribly picky about what they eat, so a few sundry looters strike me as excellent pig fodder.... :^)
