Gingrich: The key 'R' word is Republican, not Romney

The key 'R' word is Republican, not Romney

With all the efforts to understand the recent election defeat, a lot of the focus has been on former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and his campaign.

That is exactly the wrong way to begin analyzing the outcome of the 2012 campaign.

The focus on Romney as a candidate is profoundly misleading for those who want to prepare for future Republican victories.

Any analysis of recent Republican presidential results will reveal a systemic failure which can’t be ascribed to Romney.

The last clear Republican presidential victory was in 1988 when Vice President George H W Bush won with 53.37 percent over Dukakis.

Since then we have lost the popular vote in five out of six elections for president and dramatically underperformed in re-electing a president with the lowest margin in the history of presidential re-elections. (Other incumbents were defeated for re-election but none was re-elected with a narrower margin than President George W. Bush in 2004.)

Consider the results:

“When someone to the left of Bill Clinton can register republican in 1993 and 19 years later be it’s republican nominee for President, while still campaigning against the party’s platform for being pro-life, for homosexual Scout leaders and a gay military, and his only political accomplishments being that he gave the nation gay marriage and Romney Care, then something is wrong within the republican system”

AMEN!

Baloney. We lost because the Republican leadership has been sitting on their collective butts...

FHS, some of you in the face of CLEAR evidence are just numbnutz! republicans LOST because of a rino! Why don't you get it? DOLE, MCCAIN, ROMNEY. I should throw Bush in the mix, even though he won by selection of the SC, it wasn't a clear victory at all!

Romney should have been a SLAM DUNK, but conservatives made up their mind after McCain. Conservatives told everyone. Screamed at the GOP, NO MORE RINOS, GOP!

I guess you really can't fix STUPID!

Newt could have cost us the House.

He couldn’t even beat Romney because he was ran such and awful race.

Never mind that he’s barely to Romney’s right if at all.

Every time I think about the media and their shameless destruction of this country by supporting socialists and destroying everything that is noble about America, I think of the end of the Godfather movies, where all the bad guys end up with a bullet in the head. The mob knows how to deal with traitors. They should all be charged with sedition.

If we are that afraid, we will never advance. I think it would turned things around because the media would had been on notice. Yes, his campaign was minimal. He just did not understand the $$ it takes to get a campaign running full time without the backing of his party. You make it sound as though, he had that too. You will see that I am right when the next candidate is the right conservative, we will advance no matter what the media does.

Okay, we need to nominate a conservative but that candidate will need to be charismatic and inspirational, drawing in those who did not vote this time—even some who voted for Obama. The candidate will have to bring out the conservatives from neighborhoods where they appear absent, drawing more votes than Romney did in Philadelphia, Cleveland and Detroit. Conservatives and potential conservatives are there, ready to vote conservative, if they hear the right message about how conservatism will benefit them and their families. The candidate will need to mount a 50 state strategy in the way Howard Dean conducted a 50 state liberal strategy, except do it smarter. The candidate will need to fight dirty without getting dirty. Who will it be? Who can stand up and fight to save America?

Newt is right, but some of his consultants are some of the worst. And he listens to them too often.

Some were on his campaign. Some were on Winning Our Future, and I argued with them all the time.

But, I lay them to waste here:

I was not for Romney, I want a conservative too.

Gingrich is not that man. No one worth much ran in 2012. Bachmann and Cain I liked best but they seemed in over their heads.

Scott Walker should be the choice in my opinion.

Newt's a professional politician and he's now, NOW discovered that the institutional GOP has a problem. Brilliant. I've been saying for 2 decades that the GOP ought to have their license to be a political party revoked for malpractice.

I despise the GOP more than the Democrats. The Democrats revel in their evil. The GOP puts on a mask to hide their evil.

what I was wanting for the 2 ideologies to completely collide.

You and me both brother. When Newt was phased out I began to realize we were "screwed" whatever happened.

The return of mindless Newt-loving is distressing to me.

No one liked the fella when was not only endorsing Super RINO Dede Scuzzobama in the NY congressional but whining and acting all offended when people called him on it. Now quickly they forget. Newt is more like a chameleon.

.

Newt had a lot to do with his own defeat.

When he came out and slammed Romney on Bain Capital he was indistigusible from the occupy wall street crowd.

I disagree about Newt's "alleged error" of criticising Romney for the massive Bain Capital disaster of Romney's failed campaign.

Even Rush Limbaugh tacticly agrees that Bain Capital helped destroy Romney's campaign.

On Wednesday (yesterday) 2012-11-28 Rush Limbaugh recounted a KEY campaign statistic ...

that 85 percent of voters felt that Obama "really cared" for them ...

and ONLY 15 percent of voters felt that Romney "really cared" for them.

That statistic is a DISASTER !!!

When the politically INEPT Romney says things like ...

1) "I like to FIRE PEOPLE"

2) My wife has ONLY two Cadillacs

3) "Corporations are PEOPLE too ..."

It scares the living ###### out of possible voters.

You campaign with a STUPID message like that ... when 75-percent of America Adults are TERRIFIED of losing their jobs ...

and you get one of the Primary reasons for Romney's well-deserved defeat.

Even as a Evangelical Christian Pro-Life Tea Party conservative ...

and a business owner as well ...

who reluctantly voted for Romney-Ryan for "Pro-Life" reasons ...

I KNOW with "metaphysical certainty" that Mitt Romney will NEVER give a damn about ANYONE ...

unless they are either Mormons, direct familiy members ...

and his well-heeled "Vulture Captitalist" buddies at Bain Capital.

And of course, as usual, Newt Gingrich NAILS the POLITICAL TRUTH ... again ...

yes. Newt is a very smart guy, but he also commits a lot of political hypocrisy. The party needs more unity next time. I say move the first primary to Ohio and then have the whole field blasting the Democrats’ policies rather than each other.

Newt is not a real conservative by any stretch of the imagination. A background check on his positions tell the story.
