This cut in eligibility was never mentioned by President Obama during the campaign, and when he boasted about increasing funding to the Pell Grant program, CNN fact-checked his claim as true. While the amount of government funding to the program is going up in future years, CNN failed miserably by not pointing out the cuts in eligibility to students. The cuts could be a rude awakening to students who thought President Obama was expanding their educational opportunities.

They still won’t learn anything from it so what’s the difference?

They will learn, however, that it is Bush’s Fault(tm).

I guess students will have to borrow more to make up the difference.

Even when they are forced to live with their parents until they’re 40 years old they will NEVER learn and they will still vote for Obama or the next Obama.

A cut to 12 semesters of eligibility? Six years? Oh, how harsh.

RE :”
Sorry, college students. President Obama has cut your access to Pell Grants by 33%; he just forgot to mention it before Election Day.
During the recent campaign, President Obama claimed credit for increasing funding to the Pell Grant program, which provides college funds, free from repayment, to millions of students. However, an email sent out Tuesday to some Dallas college students is revealing a detail the President forgot to mention: the time a student can receive a Pell Grant has been cut, by as much as three years. With Pell Grants for the fall semester now dispersed, colleges are informing students of their options, bringing the cuts to light.
The email, sent out by the Dallas County Community College District, informed students of the changes to the Pell Grant program. It revealed that the number of semesters a student could receive a Pell Grant had been cut from 18 semesters down to 12. It is a detail likely unknown to most students; in fact, the cut in grants has gone largely unreported by the media” I wonder if the young idiots who voted for O will read this on their smart phones, the same ones O campaign texted ‘I love you’ to them on before the election

Educations are wasted on anyone halfwitted enough to vote for Obama. Put them on the soviet plantation, and teach them how to work.

I actually agree with the reduction from 18 to 12 semesters. A student could do a 5 year degree in 12 semesters. The only reason it would take more then 12 semesters to complete a bachelor degree is if the student was working and going to school part time. If they’re working, they don’t need the grant for more then 12 semesters.

Most of the truly clueless won’t realize this unless Jon Stewart tells them about it....or until they apply for their next semester’s handout. It really doesn’t matter if you get a college degree when half the graduates are jobless.

They should eliminate Pell Grants completely. They should eliminate any and every kind of government sponsored or endorsed financial aid. The cost of post-secondary education rises much faster than it needs to simply because the free market has been tainted with “free” money.
Eliminate financial aid, especially these nasty Pell Grants, and the cost of a college education will fall dramatically. The federal government has no business inserting itself into the education “industry.”

I know what you’re you are saying, but they will learn somethings, like:
America is bad, capitalism is bad, being white is bad,
believing in Jesus Christ is bad, being armed is bad,
being hetero is bad etc.
Universities are the factories that continue to pump out
the brain-dead like Occupy-people, Sandra Slut, and Obama-phone lady. We continue to fund our enemies, sounds like a
losing battle doesn’t it?

The new Conservative message needs to Expose the Lie which is big government.
If one applies for an ROTC scholarship, the government will only consider you for its best scholarships in highly technical fields of study. HOWEVER, if you get a Pell Grant you can major in Art History.
If you are middle class and need money for college, enlist and get a GI Bill. If you are poor, get a Pell Grant.
The Government chastised the banking industry as predatory lenders for giving credit cards to students in college. Some student ran up bills of $5K. Congress pass Frank-Dodd that basically outlawed credit cards to young people. However, the government will directly lend you up to $55K for college without any idea you can ever pay back the money. Simple tests like income potential of your major are NOT applied. By law, student loans can not be discharged in bankruptcy (your credit cards can). So who is more predatory, Banks or the government?
