The White House sharply escalated its attacks Tuesday on Republicans trying to stop Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice from succeeding Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary of state. Press secretary Jay Carney described GOP lawmakers as being gripped by a politically fueled "obsession" with a series of television appearances Rice made shortly after the deadly Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, in which she wrongly suggested the attack had stemmed from a demonstration over an anti-Muslim video rather than a terrorist assault.
Carney's comments came after Rice met privately on Capitol Hill with Republican senators who have said they intend to block her nomination if President Barack Obama chooses her to replace Clinton as the nation's top diplomat. Rice also acknowledged for the first time, in a written statement issued by her office, that her initial public comments on the Benghazi assault were wrong because there had been no protest outside the compound.
Carney said the U.S. still does not know who carried out the assault, which claimed the lives of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans. But he said GOP focus on Rice's early statements was a politically motivated distraction from efforts to identify those responsible for the killings.

At the time, it was broadcast that the riots were in response to this video.
No one had heard of it, but it didn't take long for the alternative press to run it down and debunk it as virtually unknown.
Later that day, riots broke out at many US embassies, and by now the "video" excuse was being used by the State Department to explain Moslem riots world wide.
Then, the Bengazi terrorist attack occurred later that day.
It's as if Barak bin Hussein abu Obama al-Kenyata had a previously arranged excuse for what he knew was going to happen on the anniversary of 9/11.
Because Obama proclaimed in his campaign, "Since I have been President, terrorists have not struck U.S. territory." Embassies are U.S. territory.
Hussein Obama always planned to blame The United States of America.

But to date he and Graham (and Ayotte) have led the charge and deserve some praise for doing that, not condemnation.
This is who you are dealing with. He makes you think he is your friend, and he shoves it in your back every time.
I understand and appreciate where you are coming from, but when it comes to John McCain, you’re just supporting your avowed enemy.

Guilty as charged. Yes we are obsessed with the pursuit of the truth.
He's waffled countless times.
But like I said, I won't stab him in the back right now while he's effectively keeping this story in the news and slamming Rice.
This one has really got the WH. As somebody asked on another thread, what in the world could they be hiding that is so devastating?
FYI: This morning it was being reported that McCain had stopped criticizing Susan Rice and was going to shift his criticism to Obama, and cut Rice some slack with the intent of approving her nomination if it came before him. What’s your take going to be when he votes to approve the Rice nomination?
John is doing what John does best, bask in the lime-light.
He doesn’t really mean it. He’s a media whore.
Enough said. I understand your position, and I can see your reasoning. I just know that John isn’t going to change his spots now or ever.
Well, anybody who’s “content to trash Obama” certainly has my support.
Rice was a tool and Obama is where this all leads to, so hopefully McCain and Graham will have the guts to keep on following it up. I think Rice was a feint by McCain, actually, to draw Obama into a more vulnerable position.
I dislike McCain intensely because of the way he completely threw away all chances to beat Obama in 2008. He was an old man intimidated by running against the “first tan president who was not Bill Clinton.” But something about Benghazi really seems to have made him mad, so maybe he really will get revenge by keeping after this. I hope...
We’ll see Livius. There are times when I’d like to be found wrong. Perhaps for the nation’s sake this will be one of them. Not holding out much hope here.
Obama will be more than willing to take some heat, as long as he gets what he wants. I’ll bet he’s happy to have the focus moved over to him. What’s he care? He’s got his second four years and that’s all that matters right now.
The budget deals aren’t even phased by this in the slightest.
Obama's not interested in talented people. He wants a cadre of disciplined apparatchiks to implement his authoritarian socialist revolution "by any means necessary." He's already 75% of the way home.
I picked Carney out years ago as an enthusiastic and dedicated soldier in this subversive coup. He's been carefully groomed for the role of propaganda minister in this regime. He has a diploma in Russian and Eastern European studies and is a "graduate" of Time Magazine's Moscow bureau. Like Obama himself, Carney is the product of a long and meticulous undercover process that in a sane world would be called treason.
All kinds of things are being reported; we'll see what actually happens.
Historically, McCain’s philosophy regarding nominations is that the President has the right to seat anyone he likes.
Up until he ran for the Presidency, he had never voted against a nominee to the SCOTUS.
As you said, we’ll see.
If John’s vote mattered, there’s no doubt in my mind he would vote to confirm Rice.
**WHO in the hell gave the damn order to NOT rescue our men in Benghazi?**
However, thanks to our follow citizens, the nightmare has just begun again.
I do not give a rat's rear end who Secretary of State under any Obama administration is.
The fact that we have an individual with 3 names that I would have to travel either halfway across the planet or to a penitentiary to find offends me.
I don't really care what this bad joke foisted upon me by my neighbors does.
His intentions are known.
That's true. And he knows that nothing ever sticks to him anyway.
Still, I would love to see somebody really corner him and ask him some hard questions, even if he gets off in the long run (as Bill Clinton did). He's run through so many minions, both low-level ones and those all the way up the line, that there's really nobody else that McCain et al. can look at for this...
The ones who probably really made the decisions are actually his unelected, unappointed "advisors," so this might shine a little light on them, too. Jarrett and Axelrod and the gang need to scatter like the roaches they are.
why is anyone still dealing with these people?
just turn your back on them...cut their funding... and let they whine about lack of bipartisan support
screw them
Keep at ‘em boys, when the White House starts blasting, that means you’re getting too close to the truth!
