Walmart Workers Say Protest was a Success

The protest, supported by the UAW, was for 'decent pay, regular hours, affordable healthcare and respect.'

Saying their walkout on 'Black Friday' had shown the world's largest retailer their determination to fight against all odds, Walmart workers hailed their wage protest Saturday.

Hundreds of protesters targeted Walmart stores across the United States on Friday, the busiest shopping day of the year, accusing the bargain superstore of ripping off its own employees.

The protests were designed to disrupt the Black Friday shopping frenzy, after Thursday's Thanksgiving holiday, when deep discounts pull in waves of customers.

"Today's protests at Walmart stores across the country are a reminder of the enormous power of working people uniting to demand a better future with a living wage, affordable healthcare and respect on the job," said Mary Kay Henry, president of the 2.1 million-member Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

Her optimism was shared by Colby Harris, a Walmart sales associate who walked off his job in Lancaster, Texas late Thursday.

The view from across the pond. So how do you measure sucess? 20 odd actual Wal-Mart employees out of tens of thousands nationwide who actually walked off the job and, sort of some big time apologizing, are probably former Wal-Mart employees today?

Less than 50 out of over one million employees.

That isn’t even enough to be a rounding error.

WalMart had its biggest Black Friday ever, thanks in large part to the SEIU protest. Millions of Americans understand the fraud and deception of this corrupt union. They have destroyed millions of jobs and enriched a handful of wealthy union bosses.

Typical union idiots. They called the strike at Hostess a success, too.

She says words for those listening, or reading to interpret as they see fit. Otherwise she is saying nothing relative to the outcome of their actions at Wal-Mart.

This is BS.

What ever happened to the concept that if you dont like a job, you quit?

Or as the union boss says, “Look a foot! Shoot it!!!”

I wanted to go to spite the protesters.
I wanted to stay home to avoid the crowds.

I ended up going to work and then taking a couple hours off to play golf. Sorry, protesters - I was against you in spirit but was too busy having a life to be bothered with you.

5,000 + transactions per minute for Walmart nationwide is not exactly a “failure”.

In fact, the very idea of the protest invoked sort of a “Chick-fil-A” moment for Walmart and people turned out just to spite the protesters.

Why does the press insist on treating the lefties, and minorities, like retarded children, and constantly rewarding them with “participation trophies”?

I was at the Walmart in Plastow, NH on Saturday. The lassies said the Friday traffic was slow, no commies. When I left at 8:30 THE incoming traffic was terrible, lined up for a half a mile, still no commies.

It’s all a moot point because the unions want Walmart, bad!
And Obama owes them. He is gonna turn the screws until they cry uncle and accept unionization.

(Hey, you want to continue to remain eligible to redeem food stamp benefits? Gotta unionize! Stuff like that.)

I think that would be 5,000 transaction per second. Each item scanned is considered a transaction.

I for one stayed away. But I stay away from Wal-mart 365 days a year anyway, protest or not.

The Union/Commie Thugs want to control something that is successful without them and they fear that. If Walmart went Union it would also go the way Sears has gone.

The Complainers and that includes the LSM knew what the job was when they applied. They are trying to make a $10.00 an hour job into a $30.00 per hour job.

When the San Francisco Walmart opened a few years back they had 20,000 applications for the 465 jobs when the store opened. That sure looks like the only people left out is Union Thugs.

Just imagine you have waited up half the night to get what you want on Black Friday morning and some Union “Official” calls for a shutdown because of some perceived wrong doing by management! That would go over how with you?

Lastly they were complaining about working on a Holiday? Well it is Retail, if they cannot understand that, there is no hope for them.
