Santorum: 'I'm open' to 2016 bid
CNN ^

(CNN) - Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum hinted Monday he may see another presidential run in his future.

"I'm open to that possibility," the Republican said when asked on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" about a 2016 White House bid.

"But we're a long way..." he added, pausing, then continuing, "I'm focused right now on trying to stay involved in the fray and make sure that we do the right thing up on Capitol Hill right now."

Santorum proved a tough opponent to Mitt Romney during the Republican presidential primary, ultimately forcing the contest to run as late as April when Santorum dropped his bid and paved the way for Romney to clinch the nomination.

I think you are ignoring the facts about Santorum.

Read posts 75 and 65.

Same as during the primaries.. Windows completely closed and blinds tightly shut to reality :/

Hopefully, some have opened their eyes a bit to the Libs with an R next to the name... but, at this point, I highly doubt it.

“I don’t like wimps as leaders.”

lol, that’s as bad as the “sweater mantra.” You need to research more, hun.

Santorum is known as a feisty guy, who gets things done!

Rick is not only pro-life, but he gets pro-life legislation to the floor.

Rick is not only pro-2nd amendment, but he fought HARD to keep gun manufacturers in the U.S.A.! Small wonder why he got an A+ NRA rating. If it weren’t for Rick, we’d probably be buying our next guns from another country, maybe Red China.

But anything I say, will go over everybody’s head, and Jeb Bush will be the nominee.

Santorum has no ideological consistency, that might be why he suffered a worse defeat than Christine ODonnell, a 17.4% wipe out, and he was the incumbent!

Santorum was anti-Reagan during the Reagan years and mocked his supporters as right wingers, Santorum switched to pro-life in 1990 to run for office, although he had been involved in liberal republican politics for years.

Santorum campaigned as a “progressive conservative originally, Santorum endorsed and campaigned with Specter in his 1996 presidential run to throw out life from the GOP platform.

Santorum was devoted to Specter and did what he could to keep Toomey out of that Senate seat, supporting Specter in 2004 AND 2010, when we were making historical gains for conservatives.

Santorum was a loyal and dedicated Romney man before he made his own run, which many saw as a feint by a pro-union rino trying to recover from his history making rejection from his Senate seat and win a job as a media figure, if not a vice-presidential choice for Romney.

I know Santorum has made mistakes, but so have Paul Ryan, Rubio, and other conservatives, for endorsing Romney.

You are ignoring Rick’s great qualitites, because you’ve already made up your mind about him, so maybe you’ll read this:

“Democrats created the last $5 TRILLION in new debt since 2006 (after Santorum left office, btw)
snip

If we want to vet Santorum for real and not just throw talking points … let’s go to the record.

The record will show that Santorum was and is a solid, mainstream conservative Congressman and Senator. In the 1990s, Santorum was a part of the Gingrich-led Congress that balanced the budget. And in 2002 to 2006 the budget deficit went to $250 billion – high but nothing like the level under Obama, Reid and Pelosi.

Claims that Santorum is a big-government conservative are simply contrary to his full record and his conservative agenda as a candidate for President, where he wants to repeal Obamacare, cap spending at 18% and follow the Ryan roadmap and pass the BBA.

Here are his ratings from when he was in Congress:
American Conservative Union — 88%
National Right to Life Committee — 100%
Americans for Tax Reform — 95%
National Tax Limitation Committee — 92%
U.S. Chamber of Commerce — 88%
League of Private Property Voters — 94%

Now remember, this is Santorum’s House ratings, in a DEMOCRAT district. How many Republicans in Democrat areas vote this conservative?

Santorum endorsed Romney last time only a few days before Romney dropped out. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Rubio, and Paul Ryan, and I think Bobby Jindal endorsed Romney at the beginning. Should we discount them from future politics.

I’m nervous. With this line of thinking, it’s going to be Jeb.

btw, there are a number of people I like as much as Santorum, but I fear they will get the same treatment, because they are not a particular conservative’s favorite candidate, so they, too, will be demonized.

Santorum was the worst contender of 2012 primary season.
This guy could not even get re-elected in his home state, losing by double digit margins. He has zero executive experience like the disastrous Obama. Worst of all he came across as contentious, immature and ineffective debater.

I will take Newt or Palin anytime over little Ricky.

Yap, abortion is the #1 issue in every poll in the country right now /S. It will be the winning issue for little Ricky. Never mind the 15% real unemployment, the fiscal cliff, all that is irrelevant. Let’s run with Ricky’s #1 issue!

Nobody else endorsed a presidential candidate calling to remove the pro-life plank from the republican party platform in 1996, Santorum did.

Nobody else was anti-Reagan, Santorum was, no one else only switched to the pro-life position for politics, Santorum did.

Nobody else fought to the bloody end, 2010, to keep Toomey out of Specter’s seat.
Specter was gracious enough to return Santorum’s $5,000.00 when he switched to the democrat party, the 2010 records show.

Here is Santorum pretending that he had not been anti-Reagan, and that Romney is the next Reagan, blah, blah, blah, typical Santorum stuff.

By the way.

Santorum lost in one of the biggest defeats in Senate history, he was kicked out of office by 17.4%, his defeat was worse than Christine O'Donnells who was under 17%, and she wasn't the incumbent!

The man is not exactly what we think of as a dynamic, powerful candidate.

ROTFLMAO!
That's the ticket, way to influence people.
Little Ricky is a loser, proven loser in his pathetic loss as a senator.
A whiney and smarmy little loser does not a leader make.

I bet Reagan would have endorsed Santorum. Reagan would realized that Santorum is a true pro-lifer because he walked the walk.

Reagan would have liked the fact that Santorum has a spine, just like Reagan did.

Do you REALLY think that someone who walked the walk is not pro-life?

NO to this Jeb Bush and Santorem BS! Major losers among Conservatives across the country.

Why do we let the leftist media identify who our candidates “should” be? They always pick people who will lose to Dem fraud voters.

But, they'll say, it's his turn. He's paid his dues. Just like Bob Dole and Jonny McCain.

Well, Santorum did a nice spoiler job on Romney, making sure he was broke throughout the summer and softened up for Obama.

Oh Obama Arthurio, Stop making excuses for the loser. Romney did lose the election on his own. I know you love the guy but this must stop. Santorum is still in it. Thank God Romney is NOT! You supporting the turd is why we lost! Romney was WEAK and that is another reason why he lost!!!!!
