(CNN) - Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum hinted Monday he may see another presidential run in his future.
"I'm open to that possibility," the Republican said when asked on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" about a 2016 White House bid.

"But we're a long way..." he added, pausing, then continuing, "I'm focused right now on trying to stay involved in the fray and make sure that we do the right thing up on Capitol Hill right now."
Santorum proved a tough opponent to Mitt Romney during the Republican presidential primary, ultimately forcing the contest to run as late as April when Santorum dropped his bid and paved the way for Romney to clinch the nomination.

And one that couldnt even win his home state.
Loser Romney didn’t win three of his “home states”. Santorum is the only one to save our country. He is incredibly conservative and would have won the election because he gives differences to Obama. Obama and Romney are twins in their beliefs and values!!!! Go Santorum!!! We all support you!!!!
Santorum is no Reagan.
BS. They are twins. Santorum=Reagan. Romney=Obama.
Why does he think he has something to offer to the nation?
He would have fought Obama at least. Had he been our nominee, he would have fought Obama on Obamacare and Libya. Romney couldn’t because he agreed with all of Obama’s policies.
Santorum switched to becoming a solid/enthusiastic, Romney man in 2008
Yeah when there was only Romney and McCain left. I did too. McCain sucked as Romney did this year. Not a great choice for anyone.
Someone I know calls Santorum Howdy Doody. I call him creepy.
Great. Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock all rolled into one.
Please make it stop.....
An ex governor couldn’t win either of his home states.
No more Bushs? You mean we shouldnt get behind another NWO globalist, muslim and illegals lovin member of the Bush family!!???
We need to use a “never been associated with anyone named Bush” litmus test.
She’d probably be running against Hilary and would do worse with women than Romney.
It may be sexist and it certainly is unfair but, Hilliary has exceeded her appearance expiration date.
Who gave the order to our military to “stand down” and NOT implement plans to rescue our men in Benghazi on 9-11-12?
When?
Why?

By 2016, the world laughing at the republican party will start to subside a little so let’s have a Santorum/Bush or Bush/Santorum ticket.
That will keep them laughing until 2020.
I agree. It's amazing how tone-deaf some people here are. Palin is a wonderful person who has done some great things for conservatives but she will never be President. Sure, she'd rally the base but she'd send everyone else fleeing.
The difficulty for Republicans right now will be finding that candidate who can unite conservatives, moderates and independents. We can't win without all three groups.
Tsk, Tsk, because Santorum was booted from office by his previous supporters in an embarrassing, history making loss.
Santorum lost in one of the biggest defeats in Senate history, he was kicked out of office by 17.4%, his defeat was worse than Christine O’Donnells who was under 17%, and she wasn’t the incumbent!
Screw you....you stayed in till Newt was dead splitting the conservative vote hoping if Romney won the general you’d get something.
Loser loser...no thanks.
Only two notables for now are Palin and Rubio and a bunch of trash.
Palin doesn’t want the glare.
Rubio is a sangre primero sort at home with LULAC
and that’s it
the republicans are first class pussies
but the stupids will think in their usual brilliance that a white guy with a latino name and a blonde latino wifey will miraculously be so apppealing to all these brown 5 foot tall Mexican and other Indians who have breached our walls in such numbers and all will be well.
mark my words...the weakness of most whites in America has no bottom
they will give up their women and kids rather than push back hard and be called racist
even here
they simply do not get what all of this is about for most minorities who vote Democrat today
victimhood getback and free stuff
even the Alamo will likely fall in 20 years
Romney was a forgone conclusion, he has always been a loser that people distrusted and disliked, but Palin is the opposite.
No one one has demonstrated the ability to unify people, like the most popular Governor in history.
Unlike Romney who proved his unelectability by being driven from his single term in office with 34% approval, Palin was a uniter, while also being a fighter and a reformer, and taking on both parties simultaneously.
Governor Palin had sustained approval ratings in the 80s, ranging all the way to 93%, while being known as a government shaking, party shaking reformer, as she is today.
Only a uniter has the support of 85 and 90% of voters, that is why it is unheard of, it is the Palin effect.
There is a reason that both parties have fought her from the very fist day she made that acceptance speech in August of 2008, she is what the left fears.
Romney is the one that they all called “electable” and we could see with out own eyes that his political life proved that a lie, Palin is the opposite, we look at her political life and see that she is extraordinary when campaigning and leading.
That is why even right now, Palin is the biggest, most influential republican leader in America and the most successful individual in conservative gains of 2012.
You mean like Ricky Santorum, Sharon Angle, Richard Mourdock, Todd Akin, etc......yeah they are passing lots of laws to protect life. They are approving pro-life candidates in senate. /S
Wake up and smell the coffee....one must get win elections first before affecting positive changes. Losers have a big fat ZERO power to change anything.
Actually there was still the freerepublic endorsed, social conservative, pro-life candidate, Huckabee, who Santorum could have endorsed.
Instead of the pro-abortion/pro homosexual military, pro-homosexual Scout leaders, creator of Obamacare, liberal from Massachusetts, who it turns out, was a lousier candidate than McCain.
Romney was running against Jimmy Carter's second term, and basically achieved the levels of 2008.
Santorum was anti-Reagan, and called himself a “progressive conservative” and worked for liberal republicans while mocking the right wingers of the Reagan camp.
