British engineer hacked to death on his South African farm
The Telegraph, UK ^ | 26 Nov 2012 | Dan Newling

A British engineer who moved to South Africa after "falling in love with the country" has been brutally murdered on his remote farmstead.

Mr Preece's daughter-in-law has told how a gang of three robbers poisoned the couple's large pack of guard dogs before breaking into the house.

Since the country's first fully democratic elections in 1994, more than 3,000 white, mainly Afrikaans, farmers have been killed in their homes.

The so-called "farm attacks" are part of the wave of criminality that has engulfed the country in recent years, something criminologists blame of a number of factors...

More than 3000 white farmers have been murdered in their own homes since 1994.

That could be more than the number of people killed in the sectarian violence in Northern Ireland during "the troubles" and more than the number of Americans killed on 9/11.

Somehow the other stories got a lot more attention in the American media. How many MSM journalists would just shrug and say the Afrikaners deserve to die?

Alan Paton's famous novel Cry, the Beloved Country revolves around the murder of a well-meaning white liberal who is murdered in his own home by some black youths in the course of a robbery. Of course that is a novel but Paton was drawing from his personal knowledge of crime and criminals in South Africa.

At least a lot more law abiding people walk around armed now then was the case even 15 years ago.

Darwin award candidate, for sure.

From the article “Police research shows that the murders are normally carried out by drug-addicted, unemployed black men. “

Sounds Familiar!

I’ve worked with close to 25 South African physical therapists over the years...well trained therapists by the way.
Not one of them (or their spouses or children) ever returned to SA to live. Some went off to the UK or Australia to live, but most stayed in the US and became US citizens.

It isn’t just the Afrikans not returning...it’s the Indians, Asians, Cape Coloreds, and others of mixed blood.
Of the ones I still keep in close contact with, they only return maybe once every 5-6 years because it has become too violent. They’ll tell you their homeland is close to becoming the next Zim

South Africa is stunningly beautiful - easy to see how an animal lover would want to settle there. Unfortunately, the black gangs are so bad now and getting worse - most of these persons are from central africa and not locals. I’ve been to SA on several trips and also have many South African friends here who have migrated since the end of apartheid. Except for the Hottentots, I am told that the blacks have been imported to South Africa from Voortracker times. They built a ‘rod’ for their own backs. Sound familiar???

I wonder about the depth of view of people who lionize Mandela, many doubtless in as much ignorance as this engineer who got hacked. This was no racial egalitarian. This was not South Africa’s Martin Luther King, Jr.

You reflexively blamed the victim. Why did you do that?

Last week a man named John Mason was beaten to death by a pack of feral blacks. That was in Baltimore. The police are already trying to blame him for his own death - just like you are with Mr Preece.

Was John Mason an idiot for living in America?

Will you continue to cravenly blame the victims as the safe parts of America shrink, year by year? Or will you stand up and point at the people that kill them?

Murderous black mobs in both the US and South Africa have chosen to poison themselves with racial hatred. They are men. Blame them.

“I wonder about the depth of view of people who lionize Mandela”

MAndela was a criminal terrorist, but even he was pleading to stop whites from leaving after independence; he knew that without them, there would be no doctors, teachers, etc.. He knew he needed time for the whites to show the blacks how to run a country, but he couldn’t provide security to let it happen. If you see any of the footage of the cops in the townships (paired one white/one black) there is no doubt they tried (the black cops were probably more brutal than the white ones - their families had to live in closer proximity to the worst elements). In the end the whites had too much to lose (their lives, and those of their families) so they split.

Blacks have to sort out the future of blacks; whites can’t make them grow up.

“Was John Mason an idiot for living in America?”

No, but the Red Hot Chili Peppers fan who was beaten in Newark NJ outside a concert was; he shouldn’t have believed the nonsense that NEwark is safe and blacks don’t hate whites with a passion. Being unfamiliar with the situation “on the ground” in Baltimore, I’ll reserve judgment on John Mason; I’ll tell you right now that any white person in Newark NJ after dark is an idiot (or looking for prostitutes or drugs).

Actually it is the other way. If whites representing 20 percent of the population at best did not colonize the country and treat the remaining 80 percent as second class citizens problems like this will not happen. Do the whites expect all the blacks in South Africa to just forget? This is why our founding fathers were wise about foreign entanglement. Colonizing other nations and treating its inhabitants as second citizens will have blowback. US had empire in late 19th Century (after our elites succumb to the European model of empire), Philippines, Cuba, Hawaii and PR. At least Cuba and Philippines was granted independence after WW2. Despite our short rule over them, we still incur some degree of resentment of our rule over them. Imagine the Europeans who held their colones for a century or more. Hawaii and PR assimilated into the US reasonably well but their are still some residue of blowback.

There is a difference between the black anger in South Africa and US. In South Africa, a racial civil war just ended where the whites were trying to enforce segregation/colonialist social order thru force. The US ended state level segregation since the 1960’s, open opportunities and implemented Affirmative Action. Blacks in the US will be hard pressed to defend the mob behavior other then depravity and crime. Problem is US authority hesitates to crackdown when it is justified.
South Africa still needs to transition to peace just like the US did after the Civil War. They are not there yet.

WTH are you talking about? When the Dutch started settling the south of Africa in the 17th century there was no one there! The first conflicts arose with the Xhosa people who migrated in from the north-east.

Blacks don't have any prior rights to South Africa.

That is an ignorant statement. The Brits annexed the Dutch and most of South Africa and made it a colony of the Empire. Africans were not treated as equals under British rule and later South African rule. 20 percent tried to rule the remaining 80 percent. There are consequences for such an approach to governing.

I'm guessing the list doesn't include the murderers.,

Never blame the murderers - per Obama, such incidents are merely a "natural reaction" to some slight, real or imagined. It seems to be the prevalent line of thought these days.

big differences between the US and RSA -- we didn't have apartheid, no matter how much the left would like to say we did

Also, blacks are 11% of the population, not 80% as in RSA

it's not going to be the same

Not completely. North-Eastern SA has been 'black' -- well, Xhosa, from the 1500s or a little earlier. So this was just about the same time as the Dutch came in -- truly speaking both the 'blacks' and the dutch came around the same time, pushing the local San people..
