Morning AB, All,
Hope everyone had good Thanksgiving. Stayed home Thanksgiving but went up to daughter’s on Friday and stayed over. Now back home and rested.
I’ve been doing so much thinking about the last election, as have we all, I’m sure. I’ll share, some for laughs, some serious, some thoughts with no solutions.
Meanwhile, thank you AB for doing the thread so well and dependably.
And when I don’t think AB can get any better, now he provides a link to transcripts of all Sunday talk shows, how cool is that?
I begin by noting on Fox News Sunday Juan McCain is the spokesnoid on Benghazi and foreign policy for the pubs as it seems.
I’m so sick of these RINOS but I’ll shut up. This year I shall remove my membership to the Republican party and guess what? I’m signing on to the Libertarian ticket up to and UNTIL the Tea Party finally forms.
It’s not that McCain does a bad job of explaining Benghazi and the like but he’s not the best the pubs have, he’s not and y’all know it. It’s how it is with the pubs, once you get some others owing to you you never go away. It’s how we ended up with Bob Dole, come on, THAT was the best they could do out of all of America?
Or John McCain and his awful daughter, George Dubya and sidekick Rove, who never met a charge of malfeasance or ineptness that he agreed to defend.
And in 2016....who do we have?
JEB BUSH!!!
John McCain and his sidekick Graham are now on TV all the time. They are the best the pubs have?
Sheesh.
rodguy posed a question to be last week — which household name Pubbie would I want to see running.
I have been wrestling with an answer for a week and still come up with zip, nada, none.
Surely, out of the 30 governors the GOP now has, they can find one good one to run. I oppose any ‘senator’ and most ‘reps’ — legislators tend to make poor executives.
==
But, again, for 2016, the conservatives need to wise up, quit chasing after 4 or 5 semi-conservatives, thus splintering their support, and letting the GOPe selectee slip through.
Okay AB, let’s begin with your assertion that the media is in the tank for all things liberal, including candidates, ideas, yada, yada.
There’s is no law on earth against it. The ONLY way to control the media is to REFUSE TO WATCH THEIR PRODUCT!!!
So okay, that being said, nobody’s guilty of love of TV and such than mine own self.
One of two things will have to happen.
Some Conservative somewhere, maybe a Koch or even a Romney for God’s sake, will have to start a new network/newspaper, preferably a TV network/movie studio.
It’s easier said than done I’ll admit but first things first, pubs have lots of money, it’s time they start fighting back using the liberal weapons the same way.
Once the Tea Party gets its mold together we’ll have more power. The biggest weakness of the Tea Party is lack of organization and totally non-realization of their power, how to call it when needed, how to best utilize the power they have.
Huckabee called for a day devoted to Chick Fil-A for a conservative cause most precious. Boom, it worked.
Flocks of us poured into DC to protest, “speak” of our discontent.
We need leaders and an agreed upon call to action. We need to think outside the box.
Which brings me to my next big idea....FREE HATS FOR LIFE!!
I got more positive responses than negative which surprised me. Part of my job will be to educate our people to what Conservatism is.
This stand was even supported by the Libertarians who may not agreed with it but respected my standing up. Even they have a hard time arguing this case.
Pray for America
Gregory Meeks -WTH? The man belongs in jail and he will be presented as someone with credibility? What are the chances that the investigation into his bogus Hurricane Katrina and other charities will be brought up by Gregory?
Ironically the next day I flew to Salt Lake for business and was golfing with an 85 yr old economics professor from BYU. He personally knew Milton Friedman and mentioned he was a Liberaltarian. When I mentioned I had just won Chair of a County he immediately went to abortion and bigger gummit.
He threw every cliche at the book but never could come up with when a baby was abortable and when it was not. I ticked him off but held my ground and forced him to think for the first time in his life. Mormons are pretty squishy on this issue.
GOPe are already floating trial balloons to see how receptive the sheeple are to Jeb B for 2016.
If that is the next it is his turn guy, the GOP have already lost 2016.
HW Read My Lips and Open Checkbook George have tainted the Bush name for decades. Over 50% of the 2012 exit polls blamed GW, not Obie, for the bad economy.
The trial balloon is, however, stirring the loyalist Bushbots.
I agree, but who? Like you I cannot come up with a single name.
I would say Sarah Palin but I don't think she will ever really run. Big media's mafia hit on her was successful. I don't think she will turn it around in the minds of the sheeple. And becoming a TV reality show star cemented the meme that she's a light weight. I argue for her with others, but they will not change their minds.
Read this thread: Republicans, 2016: In full swing (At least 15 Republicans privately contemplating 2016 campaign)
Frankly, I'm not impressed by any of these names. Maybe Paul Ryan, but I don't see how we can beat the coalition of democrats and media acting together so completely.
My next worry is that the democrats and RINOs like McCain and Graham, along with the full propaganda weapons of the media, will give us illegal alien Amnesty. GOP-e will be cowed into it by charges of RACISM. If that happens, we'll see 10 million or more democratic votes for the forseeable future.
Honestly, I cannot think of one Republican who has a chance.
The only way we’ll “get the country back” is from the grassroots up. Folks like yourself taking a stand on a local level - it’s a start. Even though you’re not in my ‘neck of the woods’, thank you for your efforts!
Some Conservative somewhere, maybe a Koch or even a Romney for Gods sake, will have to start a new network/newspaper, preferably a TV network/movie studio.
I don't either, AB. I suspect it will take a pretty healthy collapse before people start paying attention.
Meanwhile, Dems will have a hard time finding another race-playing Obama. Old Media will become older and less relevant. Internets become stronger. Standard of living worsens. Obie's young voters become discontent collecting freebies and realize they'll need a salary to support their dreams. We'll all be taxed to death and cursing Obamacare.
Things will look different in 18 months....and drastically different running up to 2016. I'm confident it will be a POS few months and years, but a mid-term sweep like 2010 is a pretty good bet. At that point we can begin the fix. Too bad, Mitt would have been a good start on the fix.
That's why I said:
-A Rich that is evil and lucky (no hard work involved here, unless youre a movie or rock starand they CARE!), and is taking from the PEOPLE
So Ben comes out and shows how much he cares, with a tear in his eye and a puppy dog smile, and we add another brick in the wall. And, of course, he's a democrat with democratic party values. As I said, it's all political now. The media is a political party.
I do like your idea about buying a network--but why hasn't that happened?
My response above was meant for your post # 24, not #22....
Republicans do not message well. “They should all be fired” does not do much to gain support of the working poor when the other side offers them free everything.
I was over on a thread about Walmart strikes and anyone reading it would conclude the first item on your list, Republicans are for the rich, is true. I guess someone could have looked at the comments and instead concluded that Republicans are very hostile to the working poor.
As I think you are pointing out, Republicans have a messaging problem and I agree with you that it needs to be fixed. The Republicans that have been in Congress for years have never pressed the conservative agenda. They don’t know how to present it in a way that does not make it sound like Republicans hate everyone.
Never are there anyone who stands up for the American way of life present on these pathetic shows. Only moderates far left demagogues. Get along to go along BS "guests".
IN the end they are easy to counter. But lack any bravado found at FR and other sites on the web.
I’m very proud of you Bray but since I’m mentally rebuilding the pubs or a new Tea Party, this abortion thing is a problem.
I really don’t want to argue. I think abortion is murder. I’d be all in favor or the legality, timing and such of it was left to the states.
But it’s not a good Republican/Conservative item and it will NEVER be made illegal, ie Roe vs Wade will NEVER be overturned. Goodness, you saw what happened over free birth control, if you think any gain would be made to eliminate abortion I got a bridge to sell.
It’s silly to say abortion should be made illegal in the event of rape or incest only. THAT’s not going to work, get thinking cap on. The Dems/Soros/media buddies will have two commercials. One will show a woman with a purple bruised face, ragged torn clothes, split bleeding lips: “The Republicans want me to have my rapist’s baby. He left me like this now I must suffer nine more months plus the pain of childbirth.”
The alternate would be a young girl of 13, obviously pregnant, very sad in terms of her youth, a child still with more growing up to do. “My father raped me for years. Finally I got pregnant. Now Joe Schmoe the Republican candidate wants me to have my father’s baby. What did I do wrong?” (this sort of thing works for ASPCA commercials, the dems know how to use emotion while pubs are wimps at it.
And if a woman doesn’t want a pre-born child, she just declares she was raped or the father was her brother and boom, she’d be eligible for a “legal” abortion.
Don’t tell me about DNA and other such. In the case of rape, they spiked my drink, it was date rape, even if DNA was taken for proof. For incest, well I don’t know. Whatever, whatever, abortion is a losing issue.
Best to fight for the states to take over the legality of it all but even at that the pubs are awful at making a point, we know it.
Even the taking of DNA for proof of incest or rape seems harsh to a woman already dealing with an unwanted pregnancy. Man I can see the commercials now...”She was raped by a serial rapist; now she must endure a test of her truthfulness and baby paternity or she will have to bear the child of her rapist.”
I’m so good I can write these commercials for the Dems/Soros.
Finally, if you think an unborn child is meant to be born, making an exception for rape or incest seems....weak-kneed. I know people who think unborn babies or such questionable conception are still children of God and deserve to be born. Frankly I feel that way too. To take two different positions on the matter depending on the conception of the unborn child seems disjointed to me.
Leading to a Republican stand that it’s okay to kill the unborn baby in certain circumstances.....I have more respect for those who are stalwart in their love for the unborn than those who think it depends on the conception/who fathered it.
Still and so, then I’ll shut up for a bit, there is a way to deal with the matter of abortion way better than the pubs have for the last ten years. Women, all of them no matter what stupid things they might say, do NOT want to kill the baby they carry. Women want the father of the child they carry to hold them tightly in their arms, to assure them that he will take care of the baby and love her (the mother) forever.
THAT’s what women want and a brave Republican should say that for God’s sake.
THIS IS WHEN YOU USE EMOTION FOR GOD’S SAKES!!!
Leadership is what its all about. Your mindset and leadership skills will lead many to the job ahead which is simply saving America.
