So they are protesting raises of a mere 30 t0 40 cents per hour a year? Have these people ever paid any attention to the incredibly puny raises union members get after long strikes? I’m talking 5 to 10 cents per hour! They want better health insurance? Don’t they like Obamacare either?

Only government unions are keeping their jobs, and even those are going to be disappearing as states, counties and cities tighten their budgets.
This is not a good time for an employee to be walking off the job. But it does tighten up the intellectual gene pool.

The American Way is to do a BANG-UP job, whatever it is, to 100+% of your ability, and then, WITHOUT ANY RAISE WHATSOEVER, with high productivity and showing imagination and innovation in his current job duties, would then be PROMOTED to some job that would CATAPULT his wage UP MUCH higher than any raise could EVER do.
