NAPLES, Fla - Sleeping with a knife under her pillow wasn't enough anymore. Denise Barra needed a gun for protection.
Fearing more stringent gun laws could soon be enacted after the reelection of President Barack Obama, the single mother of two stopped by an East Naples gun shop to get educated and maybe purchase a new weapon for her bedside table.
"This is a right I have in this country," said Barra, 34, a Naples resident. "Why not take advantage of it and be safe and secure in my own home and not rely on calling 911 or the police if God forbid something should happen?"
Government officials confirm that gun sales and background checks have spiked in Florida and nationwide since Obama's reelection on Nov. 6. And local gun shop owners say they've noticed a curious trend more women like Barra are purchasing firearms for protection.
"There's quite a big jump from two weeks before versus two weeks after the election," said Eric Sandberg, owner of Centennial Arms in East Naples. "It's above and beyond snowbirds coming back into town and buying guns. It would have been a lot different if someone else was elected. There's a big fear of gun control."
On Election Day this year, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement conducted 2,227 background checks, up from 1,165 on the same day last year. On Nov. 7, the day after Obama was reelected, more than 3,000 people in Florida submitted requests to purchase firearms a number that's hovered around 2,700 since, the FDLE reported.

Ah yes, the old "Arch Stanton" ploy. Probably a good choice in terms off avoiding surprises. I recall another forum where someone did a test cache and went back to the rural location some two years later - and found a materials yard for nearby road construction on the site. His cache was under a mountain of gravel.

Cannons. Big ones.
I know. Every time you go you gotta buy something and now I will have more than the gun shop if this keeps up. But, you need to buy from someone is selling his own private guns also so that the feds do not know about that weapon. The ones you get in the shops have fed finger prints all over them.
Both are great places to buy guns from indiviuals, face to face.
“Every gun you purchase is registered with the fed gov. What the heck makes you think that they will not take them away? They have every bit of info on you that they need.”
A bit of American history holds the answer to your question. An earlier tyrant wanted to take the guns and ammo from colonists. That program was to begin at Lexington and Concord.
The rest is history.
Do consider that the last several regimes have been more repressive than that of King George.
I recommend reading the Declaration of Independence, particularly on America holidays.
“What single gun would you advise purchasing during the next 4 (perhaps more) Obama years. Consider that All of us small business owners are driven out of business, We have fallen off the fiscal cliff. Greece and the UN cant bail us out, Entitlement payments are stopped and gangs of roving liberals(led by feminazis) are looking for handouts?
For the Feminazi’s, buy a condom cannon. Ask the FlukePerson.
For all others, a rotary cannon and a 20’ container of ammo in the appropriate belts.
Otherwise, consider the 7.62X39 cartridge and an SKS or AK.
Many of us buy some and sell them privately later on so who knows what we have.
Of course, thats why they want to stop those kinds of sales.
The 2012 Republican presidential nominee, as governor, finished what the Redcoats started.
A favorite of mine, but precious little of the stuff is manufactured here in the U.S. If someone has a good stockpile, fine... but imported ammo is low-hanging fruit for a "flexible" administration. A phone call to BATFE is all it takes to stop that supply.
Romnutz was no originalist. If America was to go socialist, better by far that it be under a Democrap, so that in teh struggle sure to come, the lines could be more clearly drawn.
Individualism versus the collective.
Private ownership versus collective ownership.
Individual decision making versus centralized decision making.
Stop tempting me!

Obamanation Communism File.
That was over at the FALFiles. I used to post over there.
In September, while renewing my CCW, the gentleman at the Sheriff’s office informed me that applications were up 500% over 2011.
So....if they’ve spiked from those levels.......!!! Wow!
